Personal MBA Coach was founded in 2008 to offer a boutique and personalized level of application support unavailable at other firms. Our approach is unique and, unlike with many other consultancies, you will not be handed off to a junior consultant who works with a few clients a year and has limited insight into the application process. All Personal MBA Coach clients work directly with our founder, Scott Edinburgh or a former M7 admissions director. This means you work directly with an expert throughout the entire process.
Personal MBA Coach helps clients with all aspects of the MBA application process including early planning, GMAT/GRE/EA tutoring, application strategy, school selection, essay editing, and mock interviews. Our team includes former M7 admissions directors and former M7 admissions interviewers. We work with a select number of applicants each year and place them into the best MBA, EMBA, part-time MBA and other graduate school programs.
Our clients not only get admitted, but many also receive substantial scholarships. Last year our clients received over $6.5M in merit scholarships.
Scott is extremely hardworking and works closely with applicants, providing guidance every step of the way. He is always available to answer questions and clarify doubts, making the process smooth and supportive.
I considered applying to graduate school very late in the process. After speaking to several consultants before meeting Scott, I knew immediately that he was the one to help guide the process. We had a lot to do in a short period of time. He welcomed the challenge and jumped right in to help me craft my personal story, outline my essays, narrow my list of schools, and begin the application process. He helped me push myself and stretch my personal goals. He and his team worked with me on a very tight timeline to get my application submitted. They were extremely responsive, over the holidays, and helped me submit a winning application. They couldn’t have been more instrumental in keeping me on task and focused during our short timeline. Words cannot express my gratitude for the time he committed to me.
Scott from Personal MBA Coach was a really helpful partner during my MBA application process. He gave thoughtful, straightforward feedback and helped me focus on the parts of my story that would resonate most with top programs. I appreciated that he didn’t sugarcoat things and was extremely strategic. With his support, I was able to put together a strong application and ultimately got into my top-choice M7 school. If you’re looking for someone who will keep you on track and help you present your best self, I’d definitely recommend working with him.
Working with Scott Edinburgh and the Personal MBA Coach team during the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024 was one of the best decisions I made during my MBA application journey. Scott was more than just a consultant—he was a mentor, coach, and a steady source of support throughout the entire process.
From GRE tutoring and resume refinement to deep, thoughtful essay editing and interview prep, Scott was by my side every step of the way. He helped me find and elevate my unique voice—something that truly made my application stand out across every school I applied to, including Yale SOM, Columbia Business School, HBS, Stanford GSB, Wharton, MIT Sloan, and Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.
What impressed me most was his ability to deeply understand my story and help me craft a persuasive, cohesive, and authentic narrative. He never imposed a generic mold but instead empowered me to highlight what made me different. His strategic insight and sharp attention to detail made the overwhelming application process structured and manageable. Even down to the application forms, Scott’s guidance was meticulous and reassuring.
Scott’s exceptional mentorship enabled me to secure acceptance to the Yale School of Management, fulfilling a lifelong dream. I am immensely grateful to him and would recommend the Personal MBA Coach team to anyone who wants not just to apply but to excel in the MBA admissions process.

Scott and his team are fantastic! Really helped me get my arms around the whole process and where to prioritize my time. They are extremely comprehensive and leave no stone unturned.
Applied to two schools with Scott’s help, and as of this moment have been waitlisted at one and have been invited to interview at the other. Scott is very easy to work with and most importantly is a no nonsense communicator who does not beat around the bush, which is what you want from your consultant in comparison to a consultant that tells you what you want to hear to make a quick buck. Scott and his team helped me stay on track through my application process in addition to providing me with valuable insights for my application; they did an incredible job bringing out the best version of my story for my applications.
Scott and his exceptional team played a pivotal role in my successful navigation of the full-time MBA application process, helping me land an M7 admit in Round 3. I began working with Scott through his MBA packages in late 2024. However, after underestimating the juggling act of work, exams, and essays, I found myself applying to multiple schools in R3. Scott was incredibly helpful and kept my morale high. Overall, I especially appreciated the team’s ability to help me shape my experiences into a cohesive story, provide actionable essay edits, and offer personalized advice tailored to each school. I highly recommend Scott and his team to anyone beginning their MBA application journey.
Scott and his team successfully made my MBA dreams come true. Thanks to their deep understanding of each school’s values, culture, and admissions nuances, they helped me craft tailored applications that stood out. Their approach was uniquely personal; they took the time to get to know me, challenged me to dig deeper, and brought out my most compelling stories. With their support, I was admitted to the two top programs I applied to, each with scholarships offers. Their strategic guidance and genuine investment in my success undoubtedly gave me the competitive edge I needed to not only gain admission, but to do so with confidence.
Coming from a technical background with a modest GPA and test scores, making the leap to work with Scott was the single best decision I could have made throughout my MBA application journey. Scott and his team pushed me to work hard and stay organized, offering their guidance and expertise to help me craft an application I was proud of. From sharpening my MBA goals to interview prep, Scott and his team were there every step of the way! Scott is a really great person; his advice is genuine, personalized, self-reflective, thoughtful, and he wants to see you succeed! In the end, I was admitted to one of my dream schools in R3 with $ and scholarships from all accepted schools totaling over $100K. I know I couldn’t have navigated the process without Scott and his team. If you’re looking for an admissions consultant, I can’t recommend Scott and his team enough! Scott, thank you for everything – you rock!
Scott has been great to work with. PMC has a very detailed and methodical approach that makes applications very smooth and efficient. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to gain detailed insight and mastery of the application process.
Entering my third MBA application cycle this year, I was determined to finally achieve a successful outcome. I found Scott through P&Q and could tell within the first 10 minutes of our intro call that even the rave reviews on here don’t quite do him and his team justice.
Scott and his team transformed my approach with their professionalism, breaking up the entire process into small tasks with a timeline custom-designed for me. Their insights on what adcoms look for also completely changed the tone of my application. Yet where they shone the most was motivating me to push through difficult moments, guiding me on how to make every single word count, and holding me accountable when I missed deadlines or simply needed to write better.
I can confidently say Scott and his team made the decisive difference in taking me from twice-denied to landing a seat in Wharton’s class of 2027.
Can’t recommend PMC, Scott, and Skyler enough. Their process is honed down to a science. Even in my moments of self doubt and anxiety, they made the application process much less stressful and helped me craft my story and goals as a non- traditional applicant with a 655 GMAT focus score. I got in to all 6 schools I applied to (including three M7s). I also used them for tutoring in my last hail mary GMAT attempt and FINALLY got a decent enough score. Scott and PMC are professional and offer a really great service that is reflective of their years of experience and genuine expertise.
Highly recommend Scott and his team. I was up against a tight deadline after being late to the application process. Scott and his team helped me build out my own brand and story I was able to tell during the admissions process. From resume building, to essay writing and interview prep Scott and his team were available to help at all hours with quick turnarounds. I was accepted to my top choice thanks to Scott and his team!
Scott was amazing to work with. What I found to be most impressive was his knowledge of business school curricula and admission processes. He have me niche information about each school and was there to advise me on the best fit / approach to take when applying. His essay editors were amazing, returning my essays in a timely manner and making sure my message was conveyed clearly. The interview prep was exactly what was asked from me, making the whole process much less stressful. Highly recommend!
Scott and his team are simply fantastic. I applied to Deferred MBA programs and couldn’t be happier with my decision to work with Personal MBA. From start to finish, I felt incredibly supported. I always knew I could reach out to Scott with any question—big or small—and he always had the answers (seriously, he knows EVERYTHING!). I ultimately got into CBS (my dream school), and I don’t think I could have done it without him!
MJ was very knowledgeable about the admissions process and guided me well across the M7 essays. She had very real perspectives of what the ad-com was trying to distill out of my application and helped me communicate that, while retaining my authentic voice. Eventually, I got into Kellogg with her support.
I had a really great experience with Scott and his team! They do a fantastic job of guiding you throughout the entire MBA process from school selection, tutoring, essay revisions, interview prep, and even waitlist guidance. I thought my accepted school was so far out of reach before working with them, but they helped guide me throughout the whole process, and I’m so happy with my selection. I can’t say enough great things about Scott and his rockstar team!
Frenk truly helped me shape my story in a way that made sense. Thanks to his guidance, I ultimately had options to choose from—rather than simply hoping to be chosen. I ended up at my dream business school. You don’t always get more than you expect when paying for a service, but this was one of those rare cases—I got far more.
Both Frenk and the entire team at Personal MBA Coach, including Scott, genuinely cared about my success and supported me every step of the way.
Frenk was fully invested in helping me reach my goals, constantly pushing me to improve and challenging me to build the strongest candidacy possible. His dedication and belief in me made a real difference in my journey.
MJ’s insight and guidance was invaluable to me during a very buy application process. Having someone to brainstorm with is always helpful. Having someone with so much insight to brainstorm with is game changing. The insight combined with application feedback meant that I could make all parts of my application as strong as possible and help me achieve my desired outcomes.
I worked with MJ Shores during my MBA application journey, and I can confidently say she played a huge role in my success. I applied to a well-rounded list of schools, including Dartmouth (Tuck), Cornell (Johnson), Vanderbilt (Owen), USC (Marshall), Georgetown (McDonough), Rice (Jones), and Notre Dame (Mendoza). I was admitted to every school I applied to and received significant merit-based scholarships at almost all of the schools — including a full-tuition scholarship at Notre Dame. I ultimately chose to attend Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
MJ supported me through every step of the process — from refining my short- and long-term goals, building my school list, and brainstorming essay topics to providing detailed feedback, interview prep, and overall application strategy. She has a deep understanding of what different schools are looking for and helped tailor my story in a way that felt authentic but also strategic. Her insights were incredibly sharp, and she often helped me see strengths in my background that I hadn’t thought to highlight.
MJ and the Personal MBA Coach team were also very responsive, which made a big difference in keeping things moving and staying on track. I never felt like I was going through this alone.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, and results-driven consultant to guide you through the MBA admissions process, I highly recommend MJ Shores.
From the first step of deciding on what programs were the right fit for me to interview prep, Scott and his team’s comments and information were absolutely invaluable! He knows all the intricate details of each school and has a pulse on exactly what they are looking for. Looking at my first draft essays now compared to my final ones, the improvement is stark. Scott really did pull the best product out of me and was well worth every penny now that I am attending my dream M7 school.
Five stars! I cannot recommend Scott and the Personal MBA Coach team enough. I was admitted into an M7 school and another one of my top choices with significant scholarship funds. They were real partners who walked with me and my brother each step of the MBA admissions journey. Scott was one of the only consultants I spoke with who truly believed in me and who I knew would be available when it mattered most. He took the time to understand my background and was a great thought partner when finalizing my school list. His team was extremely organized, super responsive, and pushed me to craft a compelling narrative. Even when it was difficult to balance work, exam preparation and essay writing, Scott kept a positive attitude that motivated me to keep grinding. The team was also clutch during interview preparation. The questions and prep sessions instilled confidence for the interviews. I cannot express enough how amazing Scott and his team were!
Working with Scott made the whole MBA application process feel a lot less overwhelming. He was super thoughtful and gave honest feedback. The mock interviews with his team were especially helpful, they gave me the confidence I needed going into the actual interviews. Would absolutely recommend working with him.
I worked with Scott on a package for five schools—all M7—and was accepted to every one of them. Overall, I applied to 11 schools, received interview invitations from 10, and was accepted to 9.
Scott provided clear, strategic guidance that helped me shape compelling short- and long-term goals. His essay editing process, in particular, pushed me to be deeply introspective—it challenged me to reflect on my experiences, values, and motivations in a way that not only strengthened my application but helped me grow as a candidate and person.
With his support, I received a full scholarship to my second-choice school and was admitted to my top choice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I’m an enlisted military veteran, and I decided to work with Personal MBA Coach because I felt stuck in my corporate career and wasn’t sure how to frame my background in a compelling way for top schools.
After speaking with a few consultancies, Personal MBA Coach stood out with their direct, no-nonsense approach, which was exactly what I was looking for.
I worked with MJ, and from the start, she was straightforward and kept me positively grounded throughout the process. She helped me stay on track with the game plan, focusing on my story, essays, and the overall package I was offering to schools. The toughest parts for me were defining my goals, refining my resume, and getting that first essay draft out. But working with MJ helped me solidify my narrative and move forward with confidence.
I also tend to feel socially awkward, especially in formal settings, and MJ was someone I could candidly ask things like, “What’s a good thing to say here?” or “What questions should I be asking?” That kind of support made a big difference. It helped me feel confident as I visited campuses and met with students, staff, and even deans.
She also gave me great insight into how to approach recommendation letters, which can be tricky, especially when you’re asking someone to essentially support your decision to leave the company. On top of all that, she helped me prepare for my Cornell interview, which ultimately paid off.
If you’re looking for a no-BS consultant who’s prompt, supportive, and highly effective, MJ is your gal. Highly recommend.
Working with Scott and his team at Personal MBA Coach was one of the best decisions I made during the application process. They were incredibly responsive, insightful, and exceeded every expectation I had going in. Whatever qualities you’re looking for in an MBA admissions consultant—whether it’s strategic guidance, honest feedback, or personalized support—I can confidently say Scott and his team deliver on all fronts and then some.
Despite a low undergraduate GPA from a school better known for athletics than academics, and professional experience rooted in a family business, Scott helped me craft a compelling and authentic narrative that truly resonated with the programs I applied to. I’m certain I wouldn’t have reached my goal of attending an M7 school without his guidance.
Yes, working with an MBA consultant is a significant investment, and Scott is no exception. But in my case, it more than paid for itself—not just in terms of the scholarships I received, but in the long-term return of attending a top program.
If you’re serious about getting into a top MBA program, I wholeheartedly recommend Scott and Personal MBA Coach. Like me, you won’t regret it.
Scott provided extremely valuable insight throughout the application process – from our first call to final check-in before decisions. He and his team are extremely responsive, help you stay on track, and provide extremely valuable insight into school specific applications. I would 100% use again and recommend Scott to anyone applying.
Working with Scott and his team was an incredible experience. From the very beginning, Scott took the time to understand my background, goals, and unique story, helping me craft an application that truly reflected who I am. His candid feedback, strategic insights, and relentless support made all the difference in my MBA journey. Thanks to his guidance, I was admitted to NYU Stern! I cannot recommend Scott and his team enough for anyone looking to put their best foot forward in the business school application process.
After researching several different MBA prep programs, I decided to go with Scott and his team. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Scott and his team possess a different level of industry knowledge and an ability to support their clients like no other. Their support helped me to get into my top choice as well as several other programs I applied to!
I am so thankful to have been recommended to Personal MBA Coach by a dear friend. Best decision to work with MJ. She was very helpful in providing guidance around interviews, essays and owning my story and brand. I applied to several programs and was accepted to an M7 school!!!
There is a reason Personal MBA Coach is the gold standard for MBA Consultants – I can confidently say that working with Erin and the team was the single most pivotal factor in accelerating my ability to tell my story in a manner that resonates with Admissions Committees. Erin was exceptionally supportive throughout the process, even as I navigated some professional issues that impacted my ability to retake the GRE. Investing in working with Personal MBA Coach has paid off tenfold, given the generousFellowships/Scholarships I have received alongside my admissions offers (4/4 on Round 1). I would strongly recommend Personal MBA Coach to anyone considering support for their MBA application journey.
I can’t thank Personal MBA Coach and my incredible coach, MJ Shores, enough for their support throughout my MBA application journey. Their guidance was a game-changer and played a huge role in helping me get into UC Irvine’s EMBA program.
MJ took the time to really get to know me—my background, my goals, and what makes me unique. She helped me craft a strategy that not only showcased my strengths but also addressed areas where I needed improvement. Her feedback on my essays and interview prep was spot on and made all the difference in making my application stand out.
From crafting my story, advice on which school to apply to and the turnaround speed of edits, Scott was fantastic and frank. His is a passion for the work and not the money. I was a bit sceptical when I saw his 96% admissions success posts. Now I understand, it is true. He has got a personal touch and continues to push you back on essays so that you bring out your full story. Hooray!!!
Scott and his team were instrumental in guiding me through the MBA application process, helping me secure a spot at HBS. From the very first consultation, Scott took the time to truly understand my story and career aspirations. His team pushed me to dig deeper and highlight experiences that I hadn’t initially recognized as impactful, helping me craft a compelling and cohesive narrative.
The process was efficient and thorough, with clear milestones to track progress on essays, resumes, and interview prep. I especially appreciated his candid feedback and his ability to challenge me to refine my ideas while staying true to my voice.
I cannot recommend Scott and his team highly enough for anyone aiming for top business schools. Their expertise and dedication truly make a difference. Without them, I would not be heading to HBS next year!
Scott and his team have a thorough process to help develop applicants’ stories. Further, they were able to help me with a full service package only a few weeks before the application deadline. I most appreciated the online system they use to track progress on each deliverable (essay, resume, etc.). I would highly recommend Scott and his team. Most important thing is to start working with them as soon as possible: the more time you have to go back and forth on ideas and drafts the better!
Applying to business school, I knew that there would be challenges as my lackluster undergraduate GPA put me at a significant disadvantage. With the Personal MBA team’s guidance, I achieved a solid GMAT score and presented my profile in the best way possible. From identifying areas of my profile that needed refining to figuring out the best way to prepare and present myself, Scott and the team were consummate professionals. I would not have been able to do this without the PMBA team, period.
Scott and his team did a remarkable job. Firstly, for which I am most grateful, Scott pushed me hard to stop being lazy, buckle down, and focus on getting admitted to the best school on my list, which was Chicago Booth. Secondly, I used Personal MBA’s tutoring service, which helped me exceed my expectations, scoring 730. Finally, the team helped me craft strong application letters and short answers. Getting into Chicago Booth was more than I would have dared to target at the beginning of my journey, but it was made possible with some great help.
I started my MBA application journey with very little knowledge of the entire process, what schools to consider, and how my non-traditional background would fit in the B-School landscape. Scott and his team were incredibly supportive and considerate with helping me identify the right program. They really took time to understand my story and pulled out great experiences that I could highlight in my application. I really could not have done this without Scott & his team’s help. I would definitely recommend!
Scott and all his team were really helpful throughout the whole process of applying to my deferred MBA- from school selection to interviewing. I felt supported throughout all my applications and felt like what I sent out was truly the best I could do. His team helped me prep for all my interviews, and made me go into them really confident. I highly recommend Scott and Personal MBA Coach overall.
I had a great experience working with Scott at Personal MBA Coach. He was a great motivator and helped me with laying out all of my goals. I had a worry with applying to schools due to having a lower GPA than I would have hoped to apply with but Scott gave me great advice and it is the reason why I got into Georgetown!
I think Scott is a great consultant who will listen to your story, share with you the perspective from adcoms, and walk you through the thinking process on how to deliver the story for business school applications. It was a great experience working with Scott, and I would recommend his consultant services to anyone who wants guidance during their business school applications.
Scott, Avi, and the whole Personal MBA Coach team were instrumental in the Business School Application process – undoubtedly helping me earn admission to my dream school. They helped me gain insight into my background and experiences and translate them into business skillsets. Their feedback on essays was timely and thoughtful, and they always pushed me to dig deeper – resulting in much more holistic and cohesive responses. Scott was straightforward, insightful, and easy to work with. Avi was also awesome, and his assistance with test prep was invaluable. Overall, great experience and highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and get some great guides on this business school journey!
When I embarked on my MBA journey, selecting the right consultant was crucial, and working with Scott and his team turned out to be the best decision I could have made. From the very beginning, Scott set the tone with an initial call that was all about understanding my goals and laying out a clear plan for the months ahead. One of the key areas where Scott excelled was helping me craft a resume that effectively showcased my experiences and created a cohesive narrative that aligned with my overall story. His ability to highlight my achievements and frame them in a way that resonated with admissions committees was invaluable. The essay writing phase ran smoothly, with his team offering great insights and constructive criticism while helping me craft essays that truly reflected my story. The interview also went great as Scott had many resources for preparation. Scott was a large part of my MBA journey, and I am very grateful for all of his support throughout the process.
Scott has been a tremendous help on my journey towards my MBA. Not only has he provided me with a set of skills—starting from my ability to clearly articulate and communicate my goals, past experiences, and skills—but he has also greatly assisted me in identifying what my path could be. He pushed me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to take time to think about my future, my aspirations, and what I want to accomplish. I will be forever thankful to Scott and his team for the impact they have had on my career.
The first time I applied for business school, I thought I was a shoo-in—high test scores, ample industry experience in managerial positions, and recommenders who loved me. But it turns out that a shopping list of achievements isn’t the secret formula to being a successful applicant. I got rejected from all the schools that I applied to.
Back then, I was subscribed to Scott’s newsletter, and to be honest, I was so sure that I would get in that I ignored all the content/tips posted in it. After receiving all the rejection letters, I took a few days to reflect on why I failed and realized I needed a coach. I immediately opened the latest newsletter I had received and contacted Scott.
From my first email and call with him, I knew this was the help I needed to turn my great shopping list into a great application. The catalyst for this transformation was the vital insider knowledge that Scott and his team had from their intimate relationships with top adcom. A true testament to their ability to synthesize this knowledge was their comprehensive essay guides that helped me shape my story as a candidate. When it came to interviews, I was yet again blown away by the resources Scott offered. I received personal coaching from former interviewers from the schools I applied to!
To summarize, it’s not only the resources and knowledge that Scott and his team have to offer. It’s their approach that ultimately led to me going to GSB this fall. Having a dedicated consultant gave me the extra push that I needed when I was running low on energy and inspiration, and their approach made me feel like I was part of a team that wanted me to win versus having a sterile consultant/client relationship.
It was clear early on that I would be utilizing the services of an admissions consultant. At the time, I didn’t believe I had the confidence necessary to put together my strongest application and felt it was important to navigate the process with a professional. I chose Scott and his team because of the positive feedback I’d heard, as well as having spoken with him directly. He was kind, and believed in me and my story. That was critical. All elements of my application were improved beyond my expectations and somehow along the way, I arrived at a new understanding of myself as a person.
I am grateful to everyone who was involved in this process (huge shoutout to MJ for the interview prep, absolutely phenomenal). Starting at Harvard next week!
Scott was recommended by my friend (Wharton alum) who worked with Scott during her application a few years ago. It was a short period of time for me to prepare and hit (a month or so) Round 1 deadline of Wharton. Having Scott and his team as advisors really gave me piece of mind, not only because they had so much experience, success stories, and insights to guide me, but also they knew how to manage time and execute. They were responsive and accountable – always provided feedback during the time window promised. The strong execution and time management skills are things I learned the most from them, which is essential in my MBA program. I not only submitted before Round 1 deadline, but also was admitted. I’m truly grateful for Scott and his team.
I highly recommend Scott and his team. I felt a bit overwhelmed approaching the application process but Scott really helped me stay prepared for all aspects of the applications. From the resume help, to essay feedback, and interview prep I felt extremely confident about my applications. In the end, Scott’s help allowed me to earn large scholarships from my top two schools.
It was a pleasure to work with Scott. He believed in me and pushed me to be my best. I would highly recommend him.
I cannot recommend Scott enough! Scott was very candid with me in regard to which schools I would be competitive at, as well as helping me maximize my scholarship opportunity. Most importantly, Scott did not employ any fear-based tactics or “you need me” speeches that many other of his competitors did. Like most applicants, the standardized test (in my case, the GRE) was my greatest source of stress, but Scott ended up raising my score from 315 to 326 in just 2.5 months. I ended up with multiple T15 scholarships, including to my top choice!
