I have a GPA that falls in the bottom 20% in all universities I was considering, and a GMAT score of 710. However, my non-traditional background made my overall profile relatively risky, as I do not have a well-known company name on my resume, making my application tricky to some extent. Scott immediately told me the strengths and weaknesses of my applications, and still believed in me from the start. He always provided fast and great quality responses, was patient all along the way and always pushed me to improve every single detail presented in my application. I applied to a top school in Europe and an M7 school, and have been admitted to both. Looking back, it would have been near impossible to even get an interview if it hadn’t been for Scott’s help. I am proud of having made the decision to work with Scott, and highly recommend him to anyone out there who seeks help in their applications!
I worked with Scott on my application for Columbia business school and could not have had a better experience. He was quick to respond to any questions I had with the process and was great with providing suggestions on how to improve the quality of essays. Scott’s feedback was always honest and constructive and he didn’t waste time trying to soften it. He was extremely helpful getting me to think about how my message would be perceived from an outside perspective and spent time helping me fine-tune it to articulate exactly what I had intended. Overall, would highly recommend Scott
Scott was a very valuable resource throughout the entire application process. As an international applicant, I did not know a lot of people around me that were going through the same process, therefore I really needed someone that was knowledgable. Scott was a wealth of information and was extremely easy to talk. He was very straight-forward with his advice, not afraid to speak truthfully about the quality of your application, which was fantastic as it saved both his time and mine. When I was choosing an admission consultant, I selected Scott because I liked the idea of having one consultant help me through multiple schools, instead of the large consultancies where they allocate a different consultant for each application. This proved to be a very good decision, as Scott knew my profile inside-out and was able to help me leverage different qualities for different schools. I was wary of the high price tag initially, but after this experience, the amount of admission scholarship I was able to obtain with Scott’s help far exceeds the fee. Overall would definitely recommend!
Scott was an absolutely amazing resource throughout the application process. When I first started working with Scott I hadn’t hit my desired GMAT/GRE score and he was up front and candid about what was realistic considering my score at that time. I really appreciated that he didn’t pander but was honest and constructive in his feedback. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable on the nuance of what each school is looking for and he gave me great advice for tailoring my story accordingly. His comments on my essays etc were always very constructive and helped me to think about my message from an outsiders perspective. He was always really quick to respond and I felt like I got a tailored, personal approach rather than a one size fits all package.
I also utilized the mock interviews, which were definitely a game changer for me – post mock interview feedback was again constructive and candid and was a great way to practice that I wouldn’t have done on my own. Mocks gave me a lot more confidence going into the real interviews.
I got into some really great schools and will be attending Booth in the Fall – I definitely accredit my success to the support I received from Scott. Would 100% recommend him!
I started with Scott a month out from the final deadline for my dream program and, despite the short timeframe, we were able to put together a solid application, ace the interview, and get in. It wasn’t easy, but if you’re serious about getting into the best MBA program you can it would be silly to go at it alone. The investment in your future is worth it.
I have been a Round 2 Wharton applicant for its prestigious full-time MBA program for the class of 2021. With a 720 on the GMAT, I thought my chances of getting into Wharton would be highly bleak. But I didn’t want to let go off the possibility of being admitted to Wharton and hold a regret throughout my life of not trying. To my surprise, I received an interview call and without any delay, I started preparing for the Team-Based Discussion and 10 min personal interview. That’s when I came in touch with Scott. Scott helped me navigate the unusual interview format, including the TBD. Realizing that I would need practice for the TBD, I enrolled in one mock TBD session with personal MBA coach. The session was extremely helpful and I requested for another session. Although all upcoming sessions were fully booked, Scott made an exception and helped me enroll in one the same night. Thanking the services of Personalmbacoach, I went for my TBD and PI. I believe I did fairly well, and through my preparation, I was in much better shape than I would have been had I not opted for the services. I remember receiving a lot of feedback after my mock TBD sessions from the trainer. I wish I had come across Personal MBA coach in the early start of my applications. Nevertheless, I would strongly recommend Personal MBA coach for their interview services. I have been waitlisted to the program, and hopefully (fingers crossed) I can still make it from here.
I engaged with Scott quite last minute for a US Top 5 program. Previous to working with him, I was already invited for interviews at several Top 5 schools, but got dinged post-interview. Scott was quick to identify the missing gaps and provide extremely thorough and individualized feedback on my application.
In addition, his turnaround time for polishing and editing my materials was very timely. He never did the work for me but provided valuable insights that were customized to what the target school was looking for. I also appreciated that his feedback was brutally honest, without any BS.
In my opinion, what you need from an MBA consultant isn’t someone who will write your essays, but one that truly spends time to understand where you come from and give you honest & customized feedback that won’t waste your time.
I recommend Scott wholeheartedly!
Scott brings incredible insights into each step of the application process thanks to his career in the industry. He just gets it. I evaluated both large and independent consultants prior to applying, and each gave me the standard, sugar-coated feedback on application strengths and positioning my story. Scott provided a customized and tailored approach, was available through text and email each step of the way, and ultimately, navigated me to my dream school with a substantial scholarship. Can’t recommend him, his team, and his services enough.
I have no words to express how grateful I am for all the guidance and support that Scott provided during the MBA application process. I was admitted into 4 out of 8 MBA programs I applied to and received full scholarship to the one most dear to my heart. My experience with Scott was absolutely invaluable and I know I would not have been able to succeed without him. He was there for me every step of the way. From the first moment I talked to Scott, it was obvious that he truly cares about me and was fully vested in my success. I wholeheartedly recommend Scott to anyone who is looking for an MBA consultant. I could have not asked for a better coach. Thank you Scott!
I am currently a college senior. I’ve worked with Scott to apply for 6 MBA programs that have early admission/ deferral program. Now I have been accepted to one school and waiting for results on others. For the school I’ve been accepted, I also got half tuition which totally paid off the consultancy fees. I have to say that it has been a wonderful experience working with Scott.
I’ve chatted with over 10 consultancies before deciding on who to work with. It was only until I was able to meet Scott in person when I traveled to Boson that I decided to work with him.
Throughout the application process, he played a pivotal role. First of all, since I am a younger applicant, I was essentially writing on my goals after 4 years (2 years of deferral period and then 2 years of MBA). Scott was able to help me sort out all my possible options and evaluate which one works the best. It was more than writing an essay but more like helping me to sort out my life. He could help me to explore all career options because he himself graduated from Wharton and have had a wide range of industry background. He was extremely patient and would hop on a call with me when necessary.
Second, Scott has been very flexible in coordinating with my schedule. I’ve been flying within U.S., to U.K, and to China throughout the couple of months. Sometimes due to work/school situations, my responses were delayed. However, Scott always provides a new edit within 2 days. When the deadline is close, he would help me do one draft a day for a couple of essays. For a lot of the essays, he would push me to dive deeper into what I wanted to express. There were some essays that we had over 10 drafts.
Third, he also gave me a lot of help on interviews. Since I haven’t done interviews for a while and English is also not my first language, Scott gave me extra interview help by scheduling mock interviews for me to practice with some schools’ ex-interviewers.
It was awesome working with Scott and I would totally recommend anyone who is considering going to MBA.
Scott helped me with 9 individual applications this year. He is hands down the reason behind the multiple acceptances I received from the top 7 B-schools including a full-ride offer from a top ivy. He provides an extremely professional service and works one-on-one to perfect every facet of your application. When you hire Scott, you get his undivided attention throughout the entire process. He is an extremely gifted and talented individual who I can confidently say is the absolute best in the business. Thank you Scott for all your help. I couldn’t have done it without you!
After researching and having phone calls with several consultants, I choose Scott to support me with my application. I could not have made a better choice!
Scott cares about your applications. He is highly responsive in addressing questions, queries, and concerns. He makes sure to always have enough time for you, and follows up with you to make sure you’re on-track.
Scott also has significant experience. That means he understands how you as a person can shine and be different. His experience makes a difference in letting you be unique and stand out from the competition.
Scott empowered me to understand how to write my own essay that showcased who I was using my own words. As someone from a background that does not traditionally apply to business school, Scott really helped me understand how the business school admissions process and how to manage the challenges.
Having been admitted to a top 10 school, I know that Scott made a difference. You can’t go wrong choosing Scott!
I worked with Scott this past application cycle and it’s been an exceptional experience! From understanding my story to identifying my strengths and weaknesses, Scott has been an asset throughout the application process. We went through 15+ rounds of edits between 4 schools with average turnaround times of 2-3 days. After applying and being admitted to 3/4 schools, Scott continues to be a resource in helping to make sure I’m thinking through the pros and cons of each program as I make a final decision.
Tldr; Scott and his team have been great to work with. Overall great pricing, quick turnaround times, and personalized packages.
Scott is a true professional and knows the college admissions process inside out. He was a tremendous help in getting me into Booth-EMBA and is currently helping me with my applications to EMBA Programs at Columbia, MIT, and Stern. He is highly responsive, gives fantastic tips, and advice. He is even available on weekends and is very flexible with time scheduling. I highly recommend Scott for EMBA applicants.
I met Scott at an MBA tour and was immediately blown away but his level of knowledge and expertise. Within 10 minutes, he totally changed my application game plan. I knew I had to work with him. I hired Scott for 2 schools. He was instrumental in helping me craft my story and also, I was extremely impressed by how much he knows about each specific school’s admission process. His knowledge definitely influenced how I approached each school’s essays. And during the essay process, he provided quick feedback and his revisions/suggestions only made my essays better. By the time I was ready to submit, I was so confident in my application. I didn’t have to worry about having said the wrong thing, accidental errors, etc. Scott was in my corner. Plus the interview prep he provided was invaluable! I ended up getting into the two schools I applied to with $$$. I’ll be attending an M7 school this fall. If you’re looking to hire a consultant, I HIGHLY recommend Scott. Smart, personable and there for you every step of the way!
Personal MBA Coach (Scott) supported me throughout the application process. I went in without a clear idea of how to approach the application, and PMC was a huge asset. I ultimately got into my top choice, and it wouldn’t have been possible without their support. I’d recommend PMC to anyone who’s pressed for time and/or would like to submit amazing quality applications.
In Summary – Scott got me into four outstanding MBA programs despite my not having the highest of high GMAT scores. Through his coaching and advice, my essays and broader applications stood out. He helped me achieve my MBA dreams!
Scott was instrumental in helping me through the MBA admissions process. I did a lot of research into which MBA Admissions Consultant I would work with and found that all other folks I spoke to for an introductory call just walked through a standard list of questions. Scott, on the other hand, had a conversation with me – about my career and life goals and experiences at my company. From that very first conversation all the way to the end, he was very personable and displayed a deep level of commitment to helping me achieve my MBA dreams.
Personal MBA Coach was there for me throughout my application journey. The GMAT tutoring that Scott’s team provided was hyper-personalized and easily accessible – I increased my score by 60 points over the course of 3 months via web-based tutoring sessions.
When it came to the applications themselves, Scott was invaluable. He was a huge help as I went through the content ideation process – he candidly responded to my ideas and helped me craft my narratives. I always appreciated that Scott did not sugar coat anything – if he thought something could be stronger he not only told me that but also gave me quite prescriptive feedback as to HOW I could make it stronger. In particular, Scott is an expert on the exact messages that resonate/stand out for each program, and I found having this information to be critical to the success of my applications.
Lastly, the interview help provided by Scott and PMC was outstanding – I was connected with alumni from each of the programs I interviewed at and had mock interviews as well as debrief sessions for each of them.
You cannot go wrong working with Scott. He is supportive, encouraging, critical, and fun to work with. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF!!
I am an Indian male applicant with a high GMAT score but a profile that’s not very conventional (business degree in undergrad -> real estate strategy work ex). None of the firms on my resume were ‘feeder firms’ and hence while researching for MBA consultants, I got mixed responses about my prospects (one of the biggest MBA consulting firms in the US told me to apply to schools outside of the top-15 and to Cambridge Judge and below). Scott was one of the few consultants who fit the bill in more than one aspect: he boosted my confidence starting with our introductory call (encouraging me to apply to certain aspirational schools, cautioning against a couple), and since Scott’s is a boutique firm, I was assured that I will be working with the same person throughout the application process, rather than being matched with an advisor from a large pool, which many firms with a cookie cutter approach do.
Coming to the essays: I did 3 applications with Scott. His inputs were practical and insightful. Not once did he miss the 24-48 hours response timeline, and in most cases, his replies were extremely swift (within a couple of hours sometimes!). After a few edits, I got the grip on essays, understood what adcoms are looking for, and eventually applied to 3 more schools leveraging the learnings from my 3 applications with Scott (once you write a few, the others become much easier). I did Wharton, Kellogg and LBS apps with Ross.
Interviews: I got interview invites from Kellogg and LBS, and Scott arranged mock interview sessions with former M7 interviewers whose inputs were very helpful.
Result: I got accepted at one of my 3 top choices (LBS) and waitlisted at Kellogg. Additionally, I got accepted at Michigan Ross ($$) and NYU Stern ($$$)!
Scott will forge a personal bond with you in the first call and that will last till the very end. I encourage all applicants to go ahead with Personal MBA Coach without hesitance!
Scott is an amazing consultant for my business school application. I used another consultant in my round 1 application and did not have a great experience. I decided to switch and worked with Scott in my round 2 application for four schools and got in three of them with scholarships. Scott is extremely insightful, flexible, personable, and encouraging throughout the process. Highly recommend for everyone!
The short version: Researched multiple consultants. Chose Scott over all others. Got into Wharton, Columbia, and Ross despite tremendous odds.
The long one: Since I was an Indian (read: one of the largest demographics) male (the most competitive gender) engineer (the hardest degree type to distinguish yourself in, especially when you are Indian), who was also a re-applicant with 8 years of experience, I knew it was going to be very hard to get into my dream school.
I contacted 10+ consultants and spoke to them at length to understand how they operate. Given my background, I knew that I would need someone who will understand my story properly and help me craft a unique story. After talking to a few of the major consulting firms, I realized that I needed a boutique consultant where I could deal with my consultant directly. Amongst all the boutique consultants I spoke with, I had the best connection with Scott. I liked his calm demeanor, the fact that he seemed to know the colleges well, and most importantly that he had worked with many Indians before and knew how to help them.
I realized his value while working with him on my first application itself. After we figured out my story, we exchanged a lot of drafts on bringing out the ‘why’. Scott adds detailed notes in each draft and he always responds within 48 hours. The final essays were really really good, even if I say so myself. They made so much sense and compared to the essays I had written myself during the previous application cycle, these were crystal clear. There was a perfect balance – the essays logically and clearly told the adcom what I wanted to do while bringing out the emotional angle to support why I wanted to do it. Moreover, the last aspect which is so important – the interview prep – is the best part about working with him. My mock interviews were super important in making sure that I do well on the day! In fact, without them, I am confident I would not have been nearly as good.
Lastly, if there is one thing I can say that would convince you of how good Scott is, it is this – When I took the 5 school package with him, I followed his instructions precisely for 3 schools and went with my gut for the other 2. It just so happens that I got into all the 3 where I listened to him and got rejected from the other 2. Now, I could put that down as a remarkable coincidence but after working with him over 9 months, I am inclined to believe that Scott knows what he is talking about.
I truly believe that he is the reason I am going to Wharton and I recommend if you are looking for a consultant, look no further than Scott.
Scott is an exceptional resource to have throughout the long process of applying to schools. From the day you sign on, he forms a disciplined and effective schedule with you. Personally, he helped me from the very get-go, providing advice and clarity of which schools to apply to, how to effectively present your resume, format essays, and have successful interviews. Scott & his team also respond to any questions you may have day or night and always willing to jump on the phone with you. I made the right decision going with Personal MBA Coach and could not be any happier with the results as I got into my #1 choice. I strongly recommend other prospective students to use him. Thank you, Scott!
I started off the MBA process with a large, brand name consulting service that proved to be a huge disappointment (lack of communication, poor advice, generic approach). Luckily, I met Scott who was the polar opposite of my initial MBA consultant. He took the time to truly understand my background which was pivotal in helping me craft my story. He also had experience with other clients from my industry, which was a huge bonus as I come from a relatively niche industry. His structured approach and methods helped streamline the entire application process and significantly reduced the stress I felt about the daunting task of applying to b-school. If you’re looking for a personalized experience from somebody that truly cares about their clients, Scott is the way to go!
Thanks to Scott’s support, I have secured admission to HBS ($$), Wharton ($$), and Kellogg ($$$). I greatly appreciate Scott’s support during my whole application process!
Scott is very professional: despite our time difference (I’m an international application), Scott always ensures timely response to my question/request. When he can’t, he would let me know in advance and propose a suitable timeline.
Scott is very experienced. Rest assured that you can trust his knowledge on MBA applications, whether it’s about what the Adcom focuses on or what differentiates each school. As I was applying to multiple schools, some obviously are different from others. Scott was able to make sure I know how to present myself and put myself in the best possible position. While Scott didn’t change my life story or career goal in any way, he did help me better tell it to the Adcom.
Finally, Scott didn’t try to act like he knew everything, as he introduced his connections that are more familiar with the specific school’s interview process as we were preparing for the final interviews.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience work with Scott and would highly recommend the Personal MBA Coach for anyone who’s considering an MBA consultant!
After receiving acceptance to all 3 programs I applied to in 2nd Round, as well as scholarships at two of the three, I can’t say enough good things about Scott. He took time, in the beginning, to get to know me and understand the story I should tell in my applications, and was incredibly responsive throughout the process. Not only did Scott help immensely with the applications (essay writing, resume development, etc.), but he was also a great resource when I was evaluating which schools to apply to, and helped me understand where I should spend more time in my extracurriculars. Finally, the interview prep he helped coordinate was the cherry on top of a wonderful service – I can’t recommend him enough!
The MBA application process is a daunting task, but Scott was wonderful at laying out a clear framework that walked me through the entire process. He got to know my “story” inside out right away, which added significant value when we were brainstorming essay topics and editing my resume. Scott’s quick turnaround time allowed me to continue with the momentum that I had while in the middle of writing my essays. His edits were insightful and helped me craft a compelling story for why I was pursuing an MBA. At the end of the process, I landed a significant scholarship to one of my top choices.
Scott was extremely helpful in my admissions preparation for business school. I can say with confidence, as a successful HBS admit, that he played a pivotal role in helping me highlight my strengths to the ad-com. He assisted in interview prep, profile construction, and essay outlining. He also was a great resource just in general throughout the very self-reflective process that is the MBA admissions process.
It was a crazy ride from start to finish applying for top MBA programs. It wouldn’t have been possible without Scott’s assistance. Coming from an engineering background, both undergraduate and career-wise, I did not know anyone who went to a full-time MBA program let alone a top MBA program. I thought I could handle the process by myself with assistance from friends and family. I soon realized I was in over my head. This caused me to regroup and postpone applying to schools for a year while I found an expert to assist me. I heavily researched lots of different admission consultants including having an initial screening with a handful.
Ultimately, I was looking for a consultant who had a few key qualities: success getting students admitted at the top schools, someone who was as invested in the process as me, and someone who would give me the truth without sugar coating it. Scott checked all these boxes. I felt better knowing that I was working with the owner of the consultant company, which isn’t true of some of the bigger consultant companies. This was a big reason why I chose Scott. I was concerned at other admission consultant companies that I would be pawned off to a low-level consultant without much experience.
The entire process was still stressful, but Scott helped me successfully get accepted to 2 top 7 programs and waitlisted at a 3rd. He was great to work with. We started by creating a schedule with milestones to hit as well as an initial brainstorming session. I also already knew what schools I was going to apply to, but he would assist with school selections. We only talked on the phone a few times but that was fine for me. We mostly communicated through email. His response time for emails or questions was normally within a day and around two days for essay revisions. For the most part, he was blunt in his responses and opinions. I enjoyed this as I would rather have the truth. This may not work as well for some people who need more emotional support during the process. He also pushed me in my essay writing abilities. As an engineer, this was a weak spot for me and he provided a great deal of value with editing abilities.
Overall working with him was a great experience and I would definitely recommend him to others. As the owner of the company, I felt that he was as invested in me getting into at least 1 of my target programs as I was. However, a lot of the work is still placed on the applicant and a consultant is only there to assist.
Working with Scott was the best decision I made in the arduous application process. He was HIGHLY responsive to any questions or concerns I had during this stressful time. My only regret is not doing the 5 school package (I chose the 3 schools). Scott really knows how to present your story in the best way possible to maximize your chances of admission and scholarship. If you’re serious about an MBA, get started with him sooner rather than later!! Scott is more than just a consultant, he is a mentor and life coach!
I met Scott at the MBA tour in Toronto in August 2018, we chatted for a bit that day, as I did with many other consultants. About a week later, we set up a free consult and the first thing that made him stand out was how much he remembered from our conversation……many other consultants are just talking heads until you hire them. I enjoyed getting the personalized experience even before I decided to work with him.
I hired Scott in Sept for just one school, and after 2 weeks I decided to go with the 3 school package to reduce my risk. I applied to Wharton, HBS and LBS Round 2.
From day 1 the service was always available, always personal and always so much fun. Scott took a lot of the stress of applying off my back as I could focus on writing the GMAT. We strategized my story in a way that drew on all the strengths I had, strengths I don’t notice day2day. We then set out a timeline and from then on all document edits were done in 24-48 hours. If you ever needed to chat about something that was urgent though, you could call or get an email response sooner.
The resume, when I compare the one I was using initially to the final draft he worked with me on, it was day and night.
My essay, he really pushed me to get more of myself out on the paper and that helped for better storytelling. Scott is like the big brother that keeps telling you where you can improve, he will push you to the best essay you can get.
Short answer questions, even these he spent time perfecting with about 3-4 edits for each run down.
In the end, your profile is a well thought out, well-written piece that fully represents you. That is how personal Personal MBA Coach.
Now I’m enrolling in Wharton Class of 2021 and I am so grateful for the help and advice that Personal MBA coach offered. I have recommended him to every MBA hopeful I’ve met and will continue to.
I was originally a bit skeptical on working with a consultant but changed my mind after taking a free consultation with Scott Edinburgh, Personal MBA Coach. I knew within 5 minutes conversation that I needed to work with him. I had taken consultations with another company but Scott possesses a warm personality that to put his clients at ease throughout the application process. Aside from all of his insights, I appreciated Scott’s ability to help to present my application in the most positive light. Furthermore, he was completely committed to helping me stick to our schedule and thoroughly review my essays. He diplomatically pushed me to do some self-reflection and demonstrated my unique story in the application essay. As a result of his consultant, I was invited to interview with both schools that I applied.
I got admitted into LBS Class of 2021. Scott, thank you so much for the help! Scott is highly professional and a down-to-detail consultant and someone you can put into trust. Scott is very experienced and knows each school very well. Therefore, he was able to bring in more insights beneath general website info. He has navigated me through the entire MBA process with great details and helped me craft my own strategy along the way. With his help, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses and took action on them. He also kindly introduced his connections to me during the interview prep. It really helped a lot!
On top of that, Scott has an admirable work ethic. He worked so hard and always responses within 48 hours, even during midnight.
Thank you so much!
I reached out to Scott while I was doing my research on various admission consultants, and after the first call with Scott, I knew he was the right consultant for me. Throughout the duration of our association, he has been available through a call/email etc especially when it is a time-sensitive issue. We took a lot of time to decide on the target schools based on my application as I wanted to apply to a lot of them, but then he helped me streamline my thought process. His approach in helping me build my story was phenomenal as he gave me ideas to ponder over instead of just enforcing me to use one strategy. This definitely helped me clarify the career trajectory for the application and in general as well. With his support, I got interviews almost in all the schools I applied, and have gained an admit from one of them. Still awaiting to hear from 2 top schools. I would definitely recommend him.
I would highly recommend Scott and the Personal MBA Coach to anyone interested in getting accepted into a top MBA program. Scott is patient, organized, attentive, and an excellent coach through the entire process. Together, we laid out a strategy (which included guidance on the resume, essays, interviews, and other crucial factors) that eventually led to a series of well-rounded applications that demonstrated my appeal as an MBA prospect to the adcom. But instead of trying to mold my application into a predictable form, we worked together to create an application that was authentic. Scott was an integral part of my HBS application success, and I sincerely recommend him for application consulting!
I am a new member of the Wharton class of 2021. This past fall I worked with Scott on a 5 school comprehensive package. From the start, I felt that Scott was personally invested in my MBA application journey. I only ever interacted with Scott, and I felt that Scott knew my story and my essays inside and out. He was very accessible anytime I wanted to chat via phone or email. He provided great insights into what each school was looking for in its application–the kind of detail and nuance I would have never known without his help! I am incredibly excited to be attending Wharton and would 100% recommend Scott to anyone seeking the best possible outcomes from their MBA application process.
The MBA application process can be overwhelming and all-consuming, especially for someone who has a demanding job. After chatting with several consulting companies, I felt that Scott was genuine and sincere and had my best interest at heart. He was very honest about my candidacy, evaluating and suggesting schools as he saw as good possibilities while all encouraging and supportive for “reach” schools. Scott was relentless in seeking to reveal and present the best of me. With patience, he inquired and brainstormed, until there were clear ideas for the various essays required; with professionalism, he helped edited and re-edited the essays. Scott will continue to push you until you put forth your absolute best work and deliver results. He was unflappable in a crisis and advised sound remedy based on his good judgment and experience. Scott was there with me every step of the way, from school selection and essay choice to mock interviews with alumni from my respective schools and final acceptance. With Scott’s help and guidance in navigating the entire process, I was ultimately admitted to 3 of my top schools.
I’m applying for MIT / HBS / LBS this year and due to work commitment, my original plan with him had to change and I was working under a very tight timeline with him during Christmas and new year on my applications. Despite these difficulties and holiday season, Scott prioritized my applications and we managed to put together something that’s superb and I submitted right on the deadline day. I also found him very direct, responsible, reliable and flexible to accommodate my needs. He’s always very responsive on emails and never replied more than 2 days after my emails. Further, I found the HBS interview guy (who’s working for him) extremely helpful. He put me on the spot, tried to challenging me and gave me very direct and helpful feedback. I got interviews for LBS and HBS and am still waiting on MIT. I would not get the interviews without Scott’s support!
I am a first year MBA Candidate at Columbia Business School and I have Scott Edinburgh to thank for it!
It was a long, yet incredibly transformative journey to business school and I can certainly say that I would not have been able to do it without the help of Scott. Being there every step of the way, Scott will help you craft a strategy that helps present your best self in your B-School applications. He dives deep and curates your brand, your story, your resume, your letters of recommendation requests, and your essays line by line, going through as many iterations as you need to be confident in what you are submitting to admissions.
When it comes time to interview, Scott will strengthen your interviewing skills by helping you identify and refine your behavioral stories, administering 1-on-1 mock interview sessions, and giving feedback on your video interview samples. All of this mentally trains and prepares you for when you finally come face to face with the business school interviewers.
Why did I pick Scott? I interviewed ~10 different MBA coaches before finalizing Scott and the reason was simple: Scott really cares about you and is truly vested in your success. And this became increasingly evident as Scott fielded countless questions and emails from me and VERY PATIENTLY supported me through all the stressful “freak outs” and breakdowns. The MBA application process is tough, arduous process. Scott Edinburgh is someone who can help alleviate a lot of that pressure and set you up for true success!
Scott is extremely knowledgeable about schools and test taking. He will offer you great guidance. He puts a lot of emphasis on ethics as he does not write essays for students and lets students’ unique voices shine throughout the application process. He offers superb interview tips and mock interview sessions to make sure that you go into the interview with confidence! I highly recommend him.
Scott was the quintessential pillar of support during my applications. I was really struggling to manage with intense work-life and my applications. Scott set deadlines and planned out my journey to ensure we finished the applications well in time. At the same time, when I failed to meet these deadlines, he demonstrated patience and worked to help me push past the finish line.
The other great attribute of Scott that I really appreciate is his ability to give candid feedback. He has a clear line of thinking and communicates his ideas quite clearly. He was surely the much-needed sounding board for my applications! He has a great sense of what works and what doesn’t – which is extremely helpful to international applicants like myself who are not familiar with the application process.
When I first applied to business school in 2016, I was rejected by six of the M7 schools. With Scott’s guidance in 2018, I was able to secure acceptances from Kellogg, Booth and Sloan and was offered a combined $170K in scholarship money from Kellogg and Booth.
I started the process with Scott after meeting him in late July 2018 after the MBA Tour and listening to his talk about the 10 things that one must do to prepare for applications. He seemed very knowledgeable and mentioned his connections with admissions offices, all while offering insights that I would never find online. I immediately signed up with him and am so glad that I did.
Scott took the time to thoroughly understand my background before laying out our plan of attack. Scott’s guidance made me feel very assured and confident in myself throughout the process. He steered me in the right direction on how to prioritize apps and plan out my essays for each school, recommending that I focus on particular topics that would resonate with admissions based on my background and what he knew they would look for. We developed such great chemistry that we would be emailing each other practically every other day for the next two months. We scheduled phone calls to strategize our attack for each school’s application. He’s also been available at a moment’s notice for me to call him with more pressing matters, such as how I should rationalize the factors that went into my decision of deciding the business school this fall. This encapsulates what I have truly enjoyed most about working with Scott — he is candid in his feedback, available at at a moment’s notice, and provides great perspective on the admissions process given his history working with other clients.
If you are considering the investment, I would highly encourage you to sign up with Scott. Working with the founder of a top consulting firm is a huge plus, and I think it would give you the confidence that you’d need to secure placements at top MBA programs.
Starting off, I knew I wanted to work with a consultant because I wanted someone to help keep me on track while I balanced a busy job (I do consulting) and my extracurricular commitments. My initial search process started off with the free 30-min consultations with the larger brand names. I realized that I wanted more personalized attention and that the quality of the experience varied based on which consultant you worked with when signing on with a larger group. Eventually, I found Scott and we connected because of our backgrounds (Scott is a former consultant) and the fact that I would get his personalized attention throughout the process.
We worked together on 3 applications. He was extremely helpful when it came to outlining an essay response, getting my main points across, and finding ways for me to stand out among the sea of other male consultants in the MBA application pool. I felt that Scott took the time to read through my drafts, which he sent back usually within 1-2 business days. We finished the 3 applications with 2-3 weeks to go before the deadline. I then used material from those 3 schools to do 2 other schools on my own, mostly to save money. I would recommend the same to others if money is an issue, but you still want to make the most out of a consultant.
Beyond essays, the package does include interview prep. Overall, I felt like that was less useful than the essay help was. I say that because the nature of interviews can get pretty subjective. Scott does have personalized interview guides for each school (2-3 pages), but most of the information can be found online or from current students. Regardless, it was nice to practice interviews with people who had either interviewed at the school themselves or gone to the program. I also supplemented my interview practice with current students/alumni who I had known through undergrad or work.
Finally, I just want to say that Scott cares about each of his clients! He called to congratulate me when he heard I got into my dream programs and was there to comfort me when a got dinged at a few others. Looking back, there is nobody else I would have rather worked with to help me through this process!
After calling several consulting firms for their free consultation, I found that Scott was the most straightforward and provided the most honest feedback. He did not try to up-sell me his services when I indicated that I only wanted to apply to two schools. He indicated that my odds were not the greatest upfront and did not pressure me to use his services, unlike some of the big firms that referred me to their outside/lesser known partners. I ultimately accepted early decision at one school and declined my interview at the other.
Throughout the application process, Scott kept his promise on providing comments or feedback within 48 hours. I was able to get quicker responses/live phone calls within 24 hours, when necessary. Given that Scott appears to have many touch points with various adcoms throughout the year, he was able to provide very insightful essay comments and help craft stories that work best/better for specific schools. In addition, interview prep was extremely helpful because he was able to connect me with a prior ambassador.
I highly recommend Personal MBA Coach for your MBA application process, especially for applicants who value honest feedback.
I searched around on the internet for weeks and used introductory consultations from more than 5 different admissions consulting services prior to selecting Scott of Personal MBA Coach to assist me on an hourly basis with my applications. My only regret was that I chose to use Scott for just a couple of hours for each of my applications rather than purchasing more extensive packages for each school.
In addition to Scott’s impressive background as an MIT and Wharton graduate and his extensive track record of success in assisting MBA applicants to get accepted to their target schools, there are a few aspects of Scott’s Personal MBA Coach services that I believe really separate him from most MBA consulting services:
1. Rather than provide me with cookie cutter advice and examples, Scott made a true effort to get to know me on a personal level first. Once he really knew me, he then helped me decide which of my features and accomplishments would be the best to focus on in essays and applications.
2. Scott works around the clock and made every effort to work with me whenever was best for my schedule. This flexibility ranged from calls at 7 and 8 in the morning prior to work to help me develop my essay strategies, to 10 pm on a Friday to conduct a mock interview for my interview the following week. Despite his busy schedule, Scott did a great job of meeting whenever was best for me and typically found time within just 24 hours of my request. This was invaluable when applying to multiple schools within tight deadlines.
3. Scott’s advice was always honest and intended to help me create the best applications possible rather than to increase the number of hours I would require him (and in turn his own pay). Scott never pressured me to use him/pay him more and simply explained what he could do in the time that I purchased from him and what he thought was the most efficient use of his time. He worked super efficiently in the time I purchased from him.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the service that Scott of Personal MBA Coach provided me and couldn’t have gotten into a top MBA program without him!
The Personal MBA Coach Team has been instrumental in my MBA admissions journey. They truly made it possible for me to achieve my long term dream of getting admitted to a top business school. The team’s thorough knowledge of the entire application process and guidance on how best to position myself along with various nuances related to each school, The Personal MBA Coach really customized and supported me extensively throughout the MBA process. I am a non-traditional MBA candidate, with a PhD and a little older than traditional applications that was discouraged by other MBA coaching and advisory services in terms of my aspirations of getting admitted to a full time program. But once I spoke with the The Personal MBA Coach, he provided a lot of support, and helped me build confidence to peruse the effort and defined clearly a working strategy for me specifically. He and his team are thorough, diligent, pragmatic and realistic. With my profile he was very honest about what I needed to work on to get to my target and how to go about it. Unlike other MBA admissions advisory services, The Personal MBA Coach is truly personal and goes the extra mile to provide best in class service, advisory and support through out the process of MBA admissions. They are available and ready to answer any question and are very flexible in terms of scheduling. Scott has a deep understanding of each school and what is needed for them to tailor the application in the best way. Throughout the process of working with Scott and the Personal MBA Coach team, I not only got admitted into the Full-Time MBA program at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, but also developed key insights about myself, becoming a better writer, interviewee and strategic thinker. My sincerest thanks to the Personal MBA Coach and team and I strongly recommend working with this team if one truly wants to achieve their MBA goals and dreams.
Scott was absolutely incredible to work with!
At first, I was debating going through the admissions process without an admissions consultant, but in hindsight, I’m so glad I decided to go with Scott. He is very experienced and knowledgeable about the process, is extremely responsive (e.g. essay revisions turned around within 24 hours), and I can tell he gives his 100% effort to each of his clients. I also appreciate that Scott gives it to you as is – he isn’t one to sugarcoat and will give you the feedback you need to hear.
I’m happy to say I will be attending my top choice (Wharton) this fall, and I can’t thank Scott enough for getting us here. I felt well-prepared throughout the whole process (including no surprises during interviews!), and I highly recommend Scott to other prospective applicants!
I worked with Scott on the interview preparation portion of my application to HBS. I can say honestly that without this interview preparation, I would not have been ready for the depth of questions I was asked in my actual interview. This package was a critical part of my preparation, and allowed me to go into the interview feeling confident and prepared. Scott was always just a quick email away if I needed anything, and his service was a key factor in my preparation that ultimately led to an HBS admission. I would recommend Scott and his team to any of my peers applying to business school. And can truly say it was 100% worth the money. Thank you Scott!
I could not have asked for a better experience working with Scott and his team at Personal MBA Coach. Before starting each application I scheduled a phone call with Scott to review my ideas for the essays and ended each call with a clear path forward. After drafting the essays and sending over to Scott I received thoughtful and helpful feedback within 48 hours which helped me keep moving my MBA applications forward. Working with Scott on essays and with his colleagues on interview prep was incredibly helpful. I ended up being admitted to my top choice M7 program with a large merit fellowship and am so glad I chose to work with Personal MBA Coach throughout this process.
Scott was absolutely instrumental to my success in the business school application process; there was no way I would have been as successful and comfortable without him.
From our very first conversation, it was clear that Scott had exactly the expertise, experience, and empathy I was looking for in an excellent MBA coach. Scott guided me through the entire process, including picking my target schools, setting milestones and deadlines, crafting my story, reviewing my applications, essays, and recommendations, interview prep, and even up to post-offer strategy.
Throughout the process, Scott was extremely available at all times of the day; there was not a moment that I was worried that he would not be available to me for an important part of the process. In addition, he pulled no punches; he was truly fully invested in my success and pointed out my strengths and weaknesses clearly and specifically.
Again, without Scott’s guidance, the MBA application process would certainly have been a much harder and stressful process and there could very well have been a different outcome for me in the end.
Scott worked with me for nearly nine-months as I navigated the arduous MBA application process. He and his team helped with everything from school selection, to essay review, interview prep and post-acceptance decision making.
From the very beginning, Scott got down to brass tacks. He helped me understand the best way to package my profile and frame my story. He additionally provided valuable insight into the specifics of what each program’s admissions committees are looking for, which helped me to tailor my applications to their expectations.
As a partner throughout this process, Scott was a professional in every sense; he was attentive, honest, and discerning. The overall experience was top-rate. With Scott’s help, I was ultimately accepted into several top MBA programs with substantial scholarship money. I absolutely recommend his services to anyone who’s serious about submitting a strong application.
Choosing Scott as my MBA consultant was the best investment I made in preparing for graduate school admissions. I initially discovered Scott/Personal MBA Coach through a meeting with a recruitment member from the program I would be applying to. He spoke very highly of Scott and his team and recommended that if I needed help with any stage of the application or test preparation to consider Scott. About a year later at a QS MBA fair, I sat in the different MBA counselor panels and Scott’s presentation and expertise hit the nail on the head for what I was looking to achieve (1) authentically branding myself for an MBA, (2) support and guidance during the application process, and (3) he knew the school I was applying to and could bring a different perspective that I wouldn’t be privy to. In our first meeting (via phone), he explained the different services and packages, I chose the 1 school application and test prep services package and he outlined what the process would look like moving forward. He was very gracious and helpful in explaining the questions I had and making the plan customizable to what I would need. We set up the timeline to apply and he put me in connection to a tutor on his team to begin test preparations. The tutor, Shaudi, was extremely helpful, accommodating and resourceful. We met twice a week over skype (using google docs and screen share also) and she was extremely generous with examples and additional material. Having used other test prep services to prep for the GMAT I was wary of signing up for another as I was just ready for it to be an expense that didn’t drive any results but this could not be further than the truth. I wish that I had just spent the money up front to do the tutoring rather than the 8-week group prep course I had done earlier. I am an extremely type-A, calendar, to-do list driven person and they both were extremely attentive and organized which definitely helped settle my nerves. What I especially appreciated is that they broke the process down into digestible bits. I like to finish all my outstanding items/projects at once, and that approach would not have worked here and Scott and Shaudi organized it in such a way that I knew what was coming and could see how I was making progress each week. I cannot recommend Personal MBA Coach, Scott and Shaudi enough they made my application process go so smoothly and helped remove a great deal of stress I had.
