Personal MBA Coach was founded in 2008 to offer a boutique and personalized level of application support unavailable at other firms. Our approach is unique and, unlike with many other consultancies, you will not be handed off to a junior consultant who works with a few clients a year and has limited insight into the application process. All Personal MBA Coach clients work directly with our founder, Scott Edinburgh or a former M7 admissions director. This means you work directly with an expert throughout the entire process.
Personal MBA Coach helps clients with all aspects of the MBA application process including early planning, GMAT/GRE/EA tutoring, application strategy, school selection, essay editing, and mock interviews. Our team includes former M7 admissions directors and former M7 admissions interviewers. We work with a select number of applicants each year and place them into the best MBA, EMBA, part-time MBA and other graduate school programs.
Our clients not only get admitted, but many also receive substantial scholarships. Last year our clients received over $6.5M in merit scholarships.
MJ was fantastic! I applied to three MBA programs in Round 1 and was admitted to all three with substantial scholarships. She was instrumental in helping me craft a cohesive and compelling story for my applications and played a huge role in clarifying both my short- and long-term career goals. At times, she truly felt like both a career coach and an MBA consultant in one.
MJ was always readily available, guided me seamlessly through each step of the process, and helped ease the stress that naturally comes with applications. Her support made me feel confident and grounded throughout.
I spoke with several MBA consulting firms and ultimately chose Personal MBA Coach because of their structured approach—having a dedicated consultant, an editor, and Scott overseeing the process. That structure worked incredibly well. MJ helped with strategy and brainstorming, my editor ensured my ideas came through clearly, and Scott provided high-level guidance throughout. With so many thoughtful touchpoints, I genuinely felt supported by a team invested in my success.
Scott Edinburgh at Personal MBA Coach was outstanding. His advice was strategic, efficient, and focused on what actually matters. With his guidance, I was accepted into the Wharton Executive MBA. I highly recommend him to anyone targeting top MBA or EMBA programs.
Scott and Personal MBA are the right choice. They know the admissions game, how to highlight your strengths as an applicant, reflect them in your essays and interview, and tell a cohesive story. But even more impressively, their strong instincts come through every time you speak with them (shoutout Andrew), which minimizes any worries and doubts you’d have applying to school on your own. Personal MBA helped me get into competitive dual MBA/MS programs at multiple M7s, and I could not be happier.
I came into the process knowing where I wanted to apply but very little idea of how to stand out in my applications. Scott is a wealth of knowledge about the programs, what the ADs are looking for and how and when to engage admissions offices. I would go to Scott 100x over – worth every penny!
Scott and his team are incredibly knowledgeable about the application process as well as what admissions offices seek from potential students. They helped me get into my dream school and also helped me find a great tutor to uplift my GMAT score. Scott provides honest, intentional and constructive feedback and ensures you stay on track to meet your goals, regardless of how busy your schedule might be. I could not recommend him enough.
MJ has been a great support throughout my MBA application process. With her guidance, I was not only able to strengthen my application and responses to the “why MBA” types of questions, but also solidify my career goals and narrow down programs. She is very knowledgeable on what schools are looking for and provided honest insights about my profile, essays, and mock interviews. She was also very responsive when I had questions, either responding to my emails within the same business day or scheduling a call within the week. With her help, I have received three acceptances so far (CBS with scholarship, LBS, Booth) and I could not have done it without her support!
MJ was a huge help throughout the entire application process. She took the time to get to know me and understand my story and my goals to make the most of my applications. From refining post-MBA goals to essay topics to interview prep, she broke down each application step into easy-to-tackle tasks and was available for guidance throughout the entire process. I was offered admission to 3 of the M7, including one of HSW. Highly recommend!
Last year, I was dinged from all the schools I had applied to. I had worked with a top Indian-based consulting firm, but after that experience, I honestly lost hope of getting into an M7. Being an Indian male (695GFE) with all my experience in e-commerce companies within India — and not from the typical consulting or finance background — I knew it was going to be tough. Still, I believed that working with a U.S.-based consultant could make a difference, especially in understanding my story and communicating it in a way that would connect with the schools.
That’s when I came across Scott through a mutual friend who had gotten into Wharton. My initial call with Scott was warm and gave me the confidence to go ahead and work with him. The process started with a detailed form to help him understand my background, followed by long, thoughtful calls to strategically shape my goals and story. For each school, we had multiple calls and email discussions that brought immense clarity to how I should approach every essay. He has utmost clarity on how to approach the content for each school and it is not one size fits all. He has a strong team of editors and interviewers that gave me huge confidence in this process.
I was also shared relevant sample essays from profiles similar to mine, which helped me get an idea of what works. There were several back-and-forth iterations with the editors to fine-tune my essays and by the end I honestly couldn’t believe it was my own story. The essays felt perfectly structured, authentic, and in complete harmony — which was lacking in my previous essays.
Beyond essays, I got help with my resume, short answers, video essay preparation and even the smallest application details for each school. It was a true end-to-end experience — from story formulation and positioning to content refinement and final submission. Compared to my earlier experience with the Indian firm, this was on a completely different level. After receiving my interview invites, I was given a set of relevant questions and mock interviews with actual former interviewers from the respective schools. That really helped me prepare with confidence and clarity. Their feedback really helped me crack my 40 minute long interview at Kellogg with the admissions team.
Overall, Scott is someone who knows exactly how to position your story and strategy, bring out your best, and help you create powerful, authentic essays. And once you get an interview invite, you’ll be trained by people who’ve actually interviewed for those schools. I would highly recommend Scott to anyone seriously aiming for the M7
I highly recommend working with Scott and team!! From the very start, Scott helped me develop my personal narrative and set myself up for admissions success. He helped me realize the importance of being able to quantify and explain the impact of my extracurriculars and pushed me to achieve even more that would give me meaningful experience and continue to develop a well rounded profile. As a procrastinator trying to juggle test prep, applications to many schools, and a hectic work schedule, Scott’s process and outline of deadlines was critical to making sure I had everything prepared in time. My essay editor from Scott’s team, Sybil, was an incredible thought partner in developing the stories I wanted to tell while making sure to protect my authentic voice and the messages I wanted to get across. I would not have reached the number of acceptances and scholarship I received without their support!
Erin was a HUGE support throughout my MBA application process and I would not have received the admissions results I did without her. She is well-versed in the MBA process, provided invaluable insight to my school selection and application, and definitely improved my personal narrative and essays in a way that put my best foot forward with b-schools. The Personal MBA Coach team is the best!
As an Army veteran with a non-traditional background, I had some initial anxiety about navigating through the MBA admissions process and securing a slot at a top business school to switch into a new career in finance – Scott was the single best decision I made, without a doubt! I plan to enter the class of 2028 next fall at Chicago Booth with $100k in merit-based scholarship aid, and a huge part of that outcome is a direct consequence of his help.
Scott advised me on each and every step in my MBA journey, from start to finish, and he was constantly available to answer the questions I had. He helped me narrow down my school selection based on my background and goals. Next, he helped me transform my wild and diverse work experiences into a cohesive story, and we worked tirelessly together to hone my “Why?”, craft several anecdotes from my work history tailored to different schools, and form my short and long term goals. We researched specific details about each program to highlight why I was an ideal fit for that program. Every word and sentence in every essay was carefully analyzed and improved over several drafts until I was truly proud of my application essays and felt deeply that they represented who I am and what my goals are. He also gave me priceless structure and guidance for getting the very, very best Letters of Recommendation I could possibly get from my recommenders, and our extensive interview prep left me feeling confident and relaxed when it was time to perform.
Scott is the real deal. On a personal level, he was always quick to celebrate wins (even the tiny ones) with me on the phone, and I would recommend him to ANYONE aspiring to take the leap and apply to a great business school. You don’t have to fly blind through this process. Best decision I made was working with him.
Scott helped me get into my dream school. I think he was there to truly help me and not to just obtain a paycheck. He gave me blunt and much needed guidance. I would not have been able to achieve this dream without his help.
Working with Scott was the single best decision I made in my MBA journey. From day one, he brought structure, clarity, and calm to a process that can feel overwhelming. He helped me refine my goals, zero in on my “Why,” and translate my experiences into a compelling, cohesive story. His feedback was honest, specific, and incredibly actionable, every draft got sharper, tighter, and more me.
What stood out most was Scott’s strategic sense. He knew how to sequence my application work, where to go deep, and what to leave out. He pushed me to back claims with evidence and to highlight impact, not just activity. When it came to interviews, his mock sessions were game-changers: realistic drills, pinpointed notes, and clear frameworks so I could be confident without sounding rehearsed.
Communication was fast and thoughtful. Turnarounds were reliable, and he was flexible around my work schedule. Most importantly, I always felt like a real person and could call him at any moment. He celebrated the wins and kept me accountable when I needed it.
Grateful for the guidance, help, support, and clarity I received from working with Scott. He helped navigate the application process seamlessly, while being both realistic and encouraging. His team helped develop my story and gave me confidence when I was doubting myself.
Scott is truly excellent. With his team of formers from all of the top schools, they provided me specific guidance on my whole application specific to each school. Because they are in touch with admissions folks at all of the schools, Scott has a pulse on what each school is looking for in a given year.
Thanks, to Scott, I landed interviews at both HBS and GSB, and will be attending the GSB this fall, even with just a 710 (old) GMAT. That is a credit to the constant feedback on the essays for each school.
Finally, Scott is available for quick calls whenever — in moments of panic, for ad-hoc strategic guidance, and candid discussion. He balances professionalism with kindness and I can say he delivered above and beyond for me.
Working with Scott Edinburgh gave me the clarity and confidence I needed to tie together my military background, academic record, and career ambitions. His direct feedback and strategic advice helped me refine my story while making sure it stayed true to who I am. Scott’s coaching made the entire MBA process feel focused, purposeful, and achievable.
I found Scott and his team through the Forte MBA, and it has been the best decision I made during the MBA application process. His expertise in helping me brainstorm my stories, brand, resume, and essays has been invaluable, especially for a scientist like me without a business background. I also appreciate the quick turnaround time and the multiple reviews he and his team provided for my applications, which gave me clarity on the next steps. Additionally, he connected me with two GMAT tutors who helped me improve my score! Thank you, Scott and your team!
I had an excellent experience working with Scott and his team throughout my MBA application process! They are extremely organized and structured, which made what could have been a stressful process feel much more manageable. What stood out most was how great his team is in guiding the essay writing process as they provide clear frameworks and feedback that keep everything well-organized, ensuring that each essay tells a compelling and authentic story. Additionally, his team helped me understand the strengths of my own story to highlight, things that I may not have thought of before.
I never realized how valuable working with a consultant could be until I started with Scott. From early questions about choosing the right schools to more complex challenges like drafting essays, navigating a layoff, and even broader life considerations that come up throughout the process, Scott has been consistently available and incredibly supportive.
Applying to seven programs while balancing life’s other demands felt overwhelming, and I had only a tenuous sense of where to begin. As a candidate with a non-traditional background, my early conversations with Scott and the PMC team helped me shape my story and reflect deeply on the unique aspects of my career. Their approach demystified the process, provided insider perspective on what each school values, and kept me accountable to a clear, manageable timeline. The confidence I gained from working with Scott and his team has been invaluable, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Working with Scott was one of the best decisions I made during my MBA application journey. From start to finish, he provided truly comprehensive support helping me craft my overall strategy, refine my school list, and develop compelling essays that highlighted my unique story.
What stood out most was his responsiveness and essay editing. Scott and team always turned drafts around quickly with thoughtful, incisive feedback that pushed me to dig deeper and sharpen my message. He was candid and direct about my strengths and weaknesses, which gave me confidence that I was putting forward the strongest possible application.
Beyond the tactical support, Scott’s honesty and clear perspective were invaluable. He never sugarcoated feedback, but always framed it constructively, and I could tell he was invested in my success throughout the process. I would strongly recommend Scott to anyone looking for a trusted partner in the MBA admissions process.
Scott and his team have been very helpful during the application process, and have provided me with smart insights and tips on how to tailor my essays and my overall application to each specific program. On top of this strategic guidance, their overall calendar/timeline has kept me on track for submitting all of my applications in time for round 1. Scott checked in frequently to make sure I kept up my essay writing pace, which I appreciated.
My MBA application consultant was extremely knowledgeable and offered clear, strategic guidance throughout the entire process. His resources and frameworks were excellent, making it easier to navigate each stage with confidence. I especially valued his timely and constructive feedback, which helped me strengthen my essays and overall application. He was supportive, reliable, and made a challenging process feel much more manageable.
Scott and his team are great – they clearly have a tight handle on what the admissions offices at different schools are looking for, including the specific nuances of the top schools individually. He also has personal relationships with some of the admissions officers – not in the sense that he’ll tell them directly about your application, but more so that he knows what they’re thinking in each application batch and how they’re thinking about priorities at the moment, which is very helpful when putting together different applications. On top of this, his team has very quick turnaround times, is easily reachable, gives great/helpful feedback, and is definitely very professional. I would recommend Scott and his team highly.
From the very first call, Scott stood out with his honesty, clarity, and genuine investment in my success. He didn’t sugarcoat or give generic advice. Scott listened carefully to my story and helped me shape it into a compelling narrative that truly reflected who I am. As someone coming from a non-traditional background, I wasn’t sure how competitive I would be for top programs, but Scott gave me both the confidence and the roadmap to aim higher.
What impressed me most was how hands-on he and his team were at every step. Whether it was refining essays, preparing for interviews, or simply strategizing on how to position myself against different applicant pools. He pushed me to dig deeper and articulate the “why” behind my goals, and that made my application much stronger. Without Scott and the team behind him I would have been completely lost.

Their deep knowledge of each school, structured process, and candid feedback helped me refine my story and stay on track. Their support was proactive and honest. I felt confident throughout the process. I highly recommend Personal MBA Coach to anyone serious about maximizing their chances.

Scott’s personalized approach transformed an incredibly daunting process into one that felt structured and manageable. From test prep to school selection, he brought deep expertise and clear guidance every step of the way.
11/10 would recommend.
I probably wouldn’t have attended a top B School had it not been for Scott. His process is thorough and highly detailed that incorporates relevant knowledge for each school. His process made me an expert at admissions which I parlayed into helping many other applicants as a student admissions member later on.
If you want to significantly enhance your odds of getting into your dream school, you should reach out to Scott.

I worked specifically with Scott. He really made me feel confident and application-ready from drafting my stories to resume review to interviews. He helped highlight my strengths and tell the story I felt was most me.
He brings years of experience and real time market knowledge that really helps inform what each of the schools are looking for and helps you craft your application accordingly.
Also, a lot of the prep we did for the application specifically the resume and interview prep. I used a lot of that information and training into helping me recruit for my job.
Highly recommend him and his team – be sure to chat with him to see if he’s right for you!

Working with Scott and the entire PMC team was an incredible experience. From the early conversations where we shaped my story, to the countless essay revisions, to the thorough interview preparation, Scott and his team guided me every step of the way. His commitment to helping candidates put their very best forward is unmatched, and I truly believe it was instrumental in my admission to my dream MBA programs. I’m so grateful for Scott’s guidance and for PMC’s support throughout this journey. Thank you!
I decided really late into the year (around October) that I wanted to try for an MBA in Kellogg, INSEAD, IESE, and LBS. I was applying in January which meant I needed to take my GMAT/GRE, as well as fix all my essays and recommendation letters by December. Scott was able to help me with the entire process, showing me where to start, how to be more efficient, and where I needed to improve. He gave very helpful comments and his MBA coach interface was very accessible and made me stay on top of all my deadlines. Not only did I learn a lot about myself and my goals and my skillset, but I left this feeling much more confident in myself. Thank you Scott and team! To my pleasant surprise, I got in every single school as well as was offered a scholarship.
Working with Scott and Sybil was a true pleasure. From the phone calls to brainstorm ideas for each school, to the countless edits on every written aspect of the application, to the interview prep, to the post-acceptance support, Scott and his team were always there!
What I truly value about working with Scott and PMC is their honesty—if an idea or topic does not work, Scott will not sugarcoat it. His determination to ensure that each and every candidate has the highest chance at being admitted to their programs of choice is something that is hard to describe, but a key part in my admission to 3 of the 7 deferred MBA programs I applied to.
Thank you, Scott!
After working with Scott directly, along with his dedicated review teams. I received acceptance and a full-tuition scholarship to my #1 choice school. Absolutely high ROI and worth every penny. I was drawn to Personal MBA Coach over competitors after Scott gave an hourlong presentation in an identity group I belonged to. Even his asides were informative — it is clear that he is committed to excellence and delivery. Scott really knows his stuff and is obsessive (to the benefit of us applicants) with staying sharp and connected in his field.
From our very first conversation, Scott was open, honest, and straight to the point—no sugarcoating, no hard sell—which immediately set him apart. That level of transparency and confidence was one of the main reasons I chose to place my trust in him and his team. As a non-traditional candidate, I wasn’t sure how realistic admission to a M7 school was —but Scott didn’t just believe in my potential, he helped me build a clear, compelling path to get there. Beyond the application materials, Scott helped me uncover and recognize the unique aspects in my own story. His team guided me through every step: crafting a powerful personal story, perfecting my essays, preparing for interviews, and navigating each school’s unique application process. A solid 5-star recommendation for Scott and his amazing team!
As one of the top ranking MBA consultants, the results speak for themselves. Scott and his team are experts across the whole MBA application process. With his and the team’s help, I was able to get into three of the six M7 schools to which I applied. I also received scholarships/fellowships to two of my acceptances. Definitely recommend!
When I initially reached out to Scott for a consultation, I had no knowledge of the application process, didn’t know how to “pitch” myself to top programs, and I came from an untraditional background (sales), so I wasn’t necessarily confident. Scott was an expert and helped me create an accountability gameplan for the application process as a whole, answered every question I had, and put me in touch with excellent GMAT tutors and admissions counselors who helped with my essay writing. After working with Scott – I got accepted to NYU Stern and I don’t think that I would’ve been able to do it without him and his team. Couldn’t be happier with the service and outcome!
Scott and his crew worked tirelessly with me to mold and craft my stories to fit each criteria. I work nights and Scott was happy to accommodate me at the odds times of day I was free. I can’t thank him enough for helping me beat the odds and get accepted to several top business schools!
Scott and his entire team are #1 in the industry for a reason. Scott is the only consultant I would ever choose to work with given his level of true expertise. From the very beginning Scott worked tirelessly to establish a prep plan, identify any weaknesses in my application and make sure that I met my desired deadlines. He and his team offered exceptional interview prep as well which went a long way during the interview phase of my applications. I received significant scholarships to every school I got into and I hadn’t expected to receive any awards. I cannot recommend working with Scott and team enough!
Scott was absolutely instrumental to my MBA application success. As a second-time reapplicant, I came in with lessons learned, but Scott helped me take my entire application—essays, résumé, and short answers—to an entirely new level. He guided me to think more strategically and practically this time, while ensuring I never compromised on my top choices (H/S/W/K). Beyond the application mechanics, Scott pushed me toward deeper self-reflection, helping me articulate my career vision and future goals with clarity and confidence. I can say without hesitation that working with Scott is one of the best decisions you can make if you’re serious about getting into your dream school.
I had the opportunity to work with Scott and Richard Emmanuel on both a waitlist and reapplication strategy, and I can confidently say that Personal MBA Coach truly stands out for their expertise and professionalism. From the very beginning, it was clear that they have a deep understanding of the MBA admissions landscape and a proven approach tailored to each applicant’s unique background and goals. If I had to summarize my experience in one sentence, it would be that they truly know what they are doing.
The entire team is structured, communicative, and highly efficient. What impressed me most was how well they know each individual program—down to the specific details that different schools prioritize. During brainstorming sessions, they asked the right questions to help surface meaningful insights from my experiences, and then guided me in translating those insights into compelling, authentic essays and responses that highlighted my strengths.
Working with the editors was incredibly productive. Their feedback was thoughtful, clear, and constructive, and the process allowed me to control the pace and rhythm of the work.
Overall, my experience with Personal MBA Coach exceeded expectations. Their strategic guidance, school-specific knowledge, and editorial expertise were key in elevating the quality of my applications. I’d highly recommend them to anyone navigating the MBA admissions process and looking to do so with confidence and clarity.
I came into the application process worried I would be overwhelmed by everything involved. From our first conversation, Scott and his team broke things down into clear, manageable steps, which made the whole process feel achievable. More importantly, they pushed me to be more ambitious with my goals and encouraged me to apply to schools I might have thought were out of reach. Their guidance on essays, interview prep, and overall strategy was invaluable. In the end, I was admitted to HBS and that would not have happened without the support of Scott and his team.
Cannot recommend Scott and his PMC team enough. Throughout all steps in the MiM and MSF application process, they were incredibly hands-on, detail-oriented and methodical with their approach. From targeting schools to GMAT tutoring and essay writing, it was clear that each individual I worked with was invested in my success. Additionally, Scott made a clear effort to understand me beyond my application on paper, always finding time to speak and catch up so that he knew how to best support me throughout the process.
So thankful for Scott and the team, their guidance assisted me in landing my target school and receiving a large scholarship. Well worth doing!
Scott is extremely hardworking and works closely with applicants, providing guidance every step of the way. He is always available to answer questions and clarify doubts, making the process smooth and supportive.
