As an associative thinker, John has parlayed his ability to think of 10 ideas at once into connecting disparate things, whether people, words, or businesses. You say Portland? He will likely link Fred Armisen, Nike, and Johnny Marr (of The Smiths) together. He is a “double Dukie,” which, in Blue Devil parlance, means he attended Duke for both undergrad and MBA. He was an English major, prefers writing custom poems over gifting traditional cards, and spoke to his fellow MBA classmates at graduation about how the personal activities and interests dwelling at the bottom of your resume can actually make you a more engaging professional.
He founded and runs a company that creates stories which position businesses and individuals for growth. After college, John spent 8 years at Goldman Sachs, helping to start and grow the insurance asset management business. After Fuqua, he advised early-stage companies, developing product and investment stories and sourcing business development partnerships for them, and in 2013, he was the Co-Founder of a cross-sector venture development company, Art & Science Collaborative. Based in Los Angeles at the time, he eventually helped lead the build-out of the world’s first commercial dance brand at Millennium Dance Media. He also trained for 8 months to try to qualify for the 2012 IRONMAN World Championships, but…wait for it…he didn’t qualify. Sigh.
He partners with his clients from a point of empathy, having spent much time as a pre-med student in hospitals and as a volunteer with a local ambulance. The embed we see reporting from the front lines with military teams is the analogous model John follows when guiding – with you, side-by-side through the entire journey, helping you craft, and make sense of, your own value and stories.

Throughout nearly a year, John provided invaluable guidance and support on my story, resume. I believe that, despite my GMAT score being below the program’s average, John’s expertise in helping me build my MBA profile saved me.
While I wasn’t accepted to 4 schools that I applied with Admissionado, the essays crafted with John’s help were repurposed for applications to 2 other schools. From both of them I received offers, where I ultimately found my fit.
I wholeheartedly recommend Admissionado (and their gold plan) and express my deepest gratitude to John for his unwavering support throughout my MBA application journey.
Amazing ROI!!!
My experience with John was wonderful. He helped to identify and highlight my strengths, downplay the negatives, and guide my highly diverse and complicated background into a winning story. I employed John 8 months before application deadlines and he helped me with everything from planning out and editing my essays, letters of recommendation, to picking schools and guiding me through the nuances of each school application with a custom strategy in mind. He offered his advice on meeting with admissions counselors and how to navigate my tricky legal past. I had a rocky academic journey as well.
John and the whole team were super responsive and caring, working tirelessly to assist during this process and the results were amazing! I got into all the schools they assisted with and reduced tuition/scholarships to 3 of the 4.
I applied to the top 4 PT MBA programs of 2024: #1 – University of Chicago – BOOTH School of Business – ADMITTED w/ $20K Scholarship #2 – University of California – Berkeley HAAS School of Business – ADMITTED w/ $15k Scholarship #3 – Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Business – ADMITTED w/ Accelerated Option $38k reduced tuition #4 – New York University – Stern School of Business – ADMITTED
Background and Challenges: – 35 year old – Past legal trouble – Food Sales/Account Executive (6 years) – Rocky Academic’s – 6 years complete BBA (Had an F and a D+) – Graduated with Bachelor’s in December and applied immediately – University of Michigan BBA in Finance 3.77 GPA – Executive Assessment Score: 152
Well worth the investment!!!
John and the Admissionado team were exceptional. Right away, John focused my efforts on the programs that made the most sense for my goals and constraints. He identified my strengths and weaknesses and knew how I should present myself to admission committees. Most notably, I found their essay planning/iterative drafting service to be invaluable. John and the team provided timely and thorough feedback and kept me on track to meet all of my deadlines. I was accepted by my first choice, and John was a critical reason why. Well worth the cost!
I was referred to Admissionado by my brother due to his positive experience with them. After my initial consult with John, I didn’t feel the need to consider or discuss with any other firms because I was confident that he could get me into my top choice (Fuqua), and he delivered!
To me, John’s real super powers are his attention to detail and his constantly positive outlook. As someone who had serious doubts about the strength of my application, particularly my resume, the latter was critical for my application process. John was steadfast in getting me to remain focused on the positive aspects of my profile, and paid huge dividends in building my confidence, which was reflected in the strength of my essays.
John’s support was amazing throughout my MBA application process. I was initially so overwhelmed and stressed and I felt really discouraged and dismissed by other counselors who seemed indifferent to my application. I needed someone to give me the confidence that I could be successful, instead of discouraging me. From my first conversation with John, he immediately made me feel more at ease by emphasizing my unique background instead of fixating on the flaws in my application.
His unwavering support was especially valuable when I faced setbacks, like scoring lower on my third GRE attempt. John swiftly eased my panic, helping me refocus on strengthening other aspects of my application. Although I didn’t get accepted into my dream school, Stanford, I used the materials and storyline we put together for my other applications to HBS, Wharton, CBS, MIT, and Kellogg.
Thanks to John’s guidance, I was accepted into both CBS and Kellogg and I’ve decided on CBS for the fall. I’m really grateful to John for his help and support. Thank you once again!
I participated in free consultations with several consultants, but John immediately stood out. During our initial call, he provided valuable feedback without pressuring me to purchase any packages. This approach greatly resonated with me, and I didn’t hesitate to engage his services further.
Throughout our collaboration, John’s perceptive feedback encouraged me to deeply introspect, enabling me to construct a narrative that was not only succinct but also genuinely reflective of who I am and what I aspire to convey. This process, though rigorous, resulted in an application that truly represented me.
John’s professionalism and supportive nature significantly eased the complex application process. His expertise not only refined my application but also boosted my confidence in it. For anyone looking for a consultant who offers personalized guidance and effective strategies, John is an outstanding choice.
John and the team at Admissionado are unrivaled. There are tons of services out there but nothing will get as close to perfect execution as them. I got accepted to all 4 schools in the first round and by no means have a ‘stand out’ profile. As someone who started as a skeptic, not only did they change my viewpoint, but they helped me at every possible hurdle that I came across with poise. Their dedication, responsiveness, and depth of knowledge really stands out and shined through as I went through the admissions process. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Whether an MBA has been a lifelong pursuit, or you are just looking to advance yourself, John and the team will not only help you deliberate the best fit but get you admitted. The confidence they instilled in me, had me unwavering through the entirety of the process. No matter the challenge, question, or concern (scores/grades/etc)…John and the team WILL rise to the occasion and you’ll be happy you partnered with them.
I worked with John on 3 schools, eventually securing an offer from Wharton! I honestly couldn’t have done it without him.
I had spoken with many admissions consultants before deciding to go with Admissionado. I felt an instant fit with John in our free consultation call and was amazed by how well he understood me. What impressed me most was how John picked out strengths from my profile that I didn’t even think of. When I initially went to John, I was worried that my GMAT score at the time (which I later improved) would disadvantage me, but that didn’t deter him from taking on this challenge, instilling a great deal of confidence, especially as someone coming from a competitive demographic.
Throughout the process, John was accessible and struck a great balance between being positive and pragmatic. Where necessary, John pushed me to think more deeply about my essays, and because of this, I was able to write great essays. He was also incredibly patient throughout and spent several hours with me on call to answer all my questions.
The initial Action Plan John put together for me provided a great framework for applications that I wasn’t working on with John, allowing me to get several interview invites and another admit.
Special shoutout to Claudia, Rose and Krystal for being flexible and working around my requirements! Highly recommend working with John & Admissionado 🙂
If you want to go to MBA school but have absolutely NO idea where to start and you want to hire the best of the best, look no further. John is your guy. I am SO thankful that I met John and his team. To give you some context, I must have interviewed 8+ MBA consultants. I mean, I did my research because I wanted to work with the best. Many of these consultants told me (verbatim!) that I should not be setting my sights as high as I actually was (and I wanted to get into the top 5 MBA programs in the world). In fact, I’ll never forget that during one interview/intro call, one consultant I was interviewing said that I should readjust my target schools from the top 5 to the top 25, given my profile. I realized they didn’t believe in me. John did.
I firmly am of the opinion that because John believed in me, we had as much success as we did working together. John (and his team) actually cared about me as a person – and not just about the money that I was paying.
And the best part? I didn’t just have John on my side, I literally had his TEAM on my side. And that’s what I loved… to feel like I’m actually part of a team… I had cheerleaders on my side through the ups and the downs of the process (and I applied to 5 schools with John and his team, and they gave me so much valuable and tailored feedback based on my circumstances and each school’s circumstance).
When I first started my MBA journey, I literally had no idea what to look for. Then I met John, and he listened to my story, my goals, and my future career aspirations. From there, he built out a solid plan for me to get admitted into some of the top 5 MBA programs.
While I think success rates and statistics are very important (and John and his team certainly delivered there, with an admit in a Top 5 MBA school and several admits in the Top 10 schools – and scholarship money as well), I think it’s also so important to connect with your consultants and their team on a deeper level so they can extract the very best story from you. And that’s exactly what John and his team did. We clicked and I think that’s why we had so much success.
I am so thankful to them and would recommend them in a heartbeat. Good luck!
I would highly recommend that anyone considering hiring a consultant include John in their process. Before I even signed up with John, he conducted a detailed review of my background, test scores, and target schools to give me a fair and honest assessment of where I stood. He then identified the areas that I needed to improve and encouraged me to do so all throughout our process. Throughout my 2+ months working with John, he was responsive and direct, and it was clear that he was hyper-focused on getting me into school. Working with John was the best decision that I made throughout my entire admissions process and ultimately led to me getting into my top school.
Pursuing an MBA was a goal of mine for many years. It took a while for the timing to be right and I knew I needed some help from an expert to create the best possible finished product of an application. I searched around a few of the top-tier admissions consulting firms and had introductory calls/ meetings with at least 4. Simply put, I had a better feeling when it came to Admissionado and speaking with John Miles for the first time. I felt that he was very honest and motivating – I could tell we would work well together and I would leverage a lot from his insight and direction. I signed up. What was equally impressive, and critical to my experience, was how organized the communication and process was from the start. I admittingly was more directionless than your average MBA candidate in that I was not 100% sure what type of program or even what focus I wanted to pursue in an MBA. John was great in listening to me talk and dissecting my interests into a path. He was great at tweaking my resume and application including essays. I ended up applying to only 1 school and was accepted. I am very happy and thrilled to be starting my journey soon. I am certain I would not have been as confident submitting my application as I was without John and the Admissionado team. Thank you, John!!
I worked with John on a reach school for me given my GMAT score was lower than average, and I believe that I was able to offset my lower test score by writing great essays with John’s help and guidance. The application for the school that I applied to included many small essays, and John assisted me with each one of them thus helping me make a strong and cohesive application. We were able to leverage my background and build a compelling narrative for me to use during my applications. John was always available to answer any other questions that I would have, even questions unrelated to the MBA program itself. Further, the package that I purchase included other ancillary services, including interview preparation, which I found immensely helpful. Overall, I had a great experience working with John and the Admissionado team. I would 100% recommend John to anyone looking for a consultant. Of note, I tried applying to an MBA program by myself a few years back and the application that I crafted with John is far better than anything that I could and did come up with on my own.
If your goal is to get into a top MBA program that may be a stretch for you, then Admissionado is the company for you. John and the rest of the Admissionado team are excellent. They are responsive, friendly, and helpful when you need them most. Their materials are a necessity, but so is their personalized approach to every application and situation. Their essay reviews are insightful and helpful. Their reviews of LORs were essential. I wholeheartedly recommend their services for any MBA application, especially the top 10. I applied to four schools in the top 10. I was admitted to three of the four and was awarded a scholarship to an Ivy League school that I sincerely doubted I would get into. Thanks again, John!
John and the team at Admissionado are an amazingly helpful, knowledgeable, and to the point team, and without their insights into my application, I am rather sure I would not have been able to get my admit at Georgetown, but that too with generous funding. John took the utmost care in understanding my background and my goals, assessing my strengths and weaknesses, and helping me put my best foot forward through school selection, my resume, and SoPs. The team is very responsive, polite, and accomodating and the whole experience with them despite being primarily through email was very smooth. As I said before, I am quite sure I would be able to bag the admits I have, without John’s guidance and I highly, highly recommend Admissionado.
John DC Miles and the Admissionado team were incredible to work with, exceeded all my expectations, and I couldn’t have gotten into multiple top-tier executive MBA programs without their support and guidance! I highly recommend trusting John as your partner through your MBA admissions journey.
Having interviewed multiple MBA admissions consultants before my intro call with John, I immediately recognized that he stood out from the rest. John struck me as being highly knowledgeable and capable and a consultant who would genuinely listen to my story and help me tell it in the best way possible, in my way.
Throughout the entire process, John was a pleasure to work with. John was my strategic partner, who was very engaged and personally invested in my success. John pushed me to work hard from end to end, pulling my application together in the most genuine and compelling way. In addition, John and his editing team were highly efficient. They provided exceptional feedback for fine-tuning my resume and essays, allowing us to complete all deliverables within the ~ four rounds of edits included in the package. However, I firmly believe John would have put my needs first and made exceptions for additional rounds of revisions if my work wasn’t top quality.
I used Admissionado’s Deluxe package for all three schools I applied to, and I appreciated that level of support for each application.
John DC Miles is a top-notch admissions consultant, and I consider myself fortunate to have had the chance to trust him as my strategic partner through this process.
It is my pleasure working with John, he helped me and guided me through the process. Really appreciate his effort to finalize the material and walk me through the interview process. Really appreciate it 🙂
I really enjoyed working with John Miles on my applications to 3 of my dream Schools – Wharton, Haas and CBS; converted the first two with $$.
Coming from a super-competitive applicant pool – Indian Male Engineer – I didn’t think I’d get into any of my dream schools, and it wouldn’t have been possible without outstanding effort from John and the entire Admissionado team.
Right from the introductory call, I knew I was in great hands. John showed genuine interest in getting to know my background and motives, and understand my choice of B-schools better. What followed was a well-documented analysis and action plan on my strengths and areas to focus on. It was very targeted at me and had helpful insights on how to make myself stand from the crowd.
I thought I was too late for R1. But the team’s prompt responses to my essay drafts and highlights on what to edit & how made sure I was able to submit my R1 applications well ahead of time – without compromising on the quality. Turnaround on most essay drafts wasn’t more than 2 days, better than the 3 days they had promised. Their edit suggestions forced me to introspect more, which ended up making me fill in some of the important details in my essays – something that my lazy mind wasn’t originally prepared for.
Special thanks to Rose and Claudia for being on top of the game from behind the scenes, and cheering me up always. The team is really great (and efficient) at what it does.
All in all, a really great experience working with them and will highly recommend at least setting up an initial phone call with them – you won’t be able to turn back from there.
I first reached out to Admissionado in 2016 with the team. We began the consulting process when I decided to take a pause on the MBA application process and instead accepted a job. When I reached back out in 2020 the team picked right back up where we left off. They honored my initial package and redid a strategy session with me to understand all that happened in my career since last we spoke. When evaluating my overall profile, John and the Admissionado team encouraged me and gave me the confidence to go after top schools in Round 1, despite my below-average GMAT and GPA stats, and accelerated timeline (I began the process in mid-August 2020). They helped me set up a very detailed work plan to get my admissions package together in time to meet the Round 1 deadlines for my target programs and kept their team ahead of that plan.
John really impressed me with how invested in my story he was. By truly understanding who I was, my vision for my career, John helped me craft my essay so that I came to life on paper. Additionally, John’s specific admissions journey (Fuqua acceptance with average stats) provided insights and encouragement during my journey. I initially engaged them to help me craft my essay for one of the M7 schools. As we put together the first few versions of my essay for that school, John identified that another M7 school might be a better fit for me and what I wanted to do. Prior to that conversation I lacked the confidence in applying to that school as I believed I would be an automatic reject. I will now be attending that program this fall which would not have been possible without John and the Admissionado team. I could not recommend John and the whole Admissionado team more. They all were personable, detail-oriented, and organized throughout the entire admissions process, turning a stressful situation into something very manageable. Most importantly they care. My successes were their successes. When I received my acceptances, I could not wait to share the good news with my Admissionado team!
The whole process is so well streamlined by the Admissionado team- from their initial checklist for figuring out your best stories to the comments/POV they open you up to during the essay writing phase. John and the team really pushed me to achieve the best (quite literally) I got into M7. I couldn’t have done it without them!!
If you are thinking about getting a consultant for your MBA applications, just offer them a call once and I assure you that would be your last one.
Absolutely the best!!
I had a great experience working with Admissionado! I decided to get a consulting service to sharpen my application, especially since my GMAT was average and I was struggling on how I should position my story.
I had an introductory call with a few different consultants – Admissionado was the last one. I was scheduled with John DC Miles, and after our first call, I knew John understood exactly why I was struggling. He got me. He’s extremely empathetic, having spent time in pre-med (same as me), and right then I knew who my choice of consultant would be.
John created an Action Plan based on everything we talked about: my goals, background, target schools, and other concerns. I was extremely impressed by John’s speed and ability to stitch together my story/ theme I should aim for based on my background.
The part of the application process causing the most stress for me were the essays. However, after I sent in the first draft, John returned them promptly with suggestions, edits, encouragement, and a full plan on how to structure the essay for maximum effectiveness and impact. The quality of the edits we conducted on my essays blew away my expectations. They really make sure you are being as concise as possible in all your app components: main essays, short essays, resume, and interview – no fluff. Further, Admissionado says that all drafts will be retuned within 72 hours, however I noticed John was returning most drafts much sooner – and even working weekends – when I would have the most time.
I ended up getting in to all the top schools on my list except for one!
I want to thank John (who I HIGHLY recommend), and the whole Admissionado team (Claudia and Rose) for their help, encouragement, and prompt responses. I was DREADING planning my essays and undertaking the application process, but their support took the pain out of the process, and looking back, I had fun! When it came time for interviews, I was not nervous at all because I was prepped so well for anything they could throw my way. I highly recommend Admissionado if you ever think about getting a consulting service for your MBA application. Five stars aren’t enough to express my gratitude or show the quality of their service.
Before signing up for Admissionado, I did a few free consultations and was unimpressed by their cookie-cutter approach and encouraging me to only apply to schools where my GMAT score was 20-40 points above the average. After my initial consultation with Admissionado, I had a follow-up call with John and was impressed with how personable he was and the confidence he demonstrated in his ability to get someone like me coming from a tough demographic and work experience in finance into a top ten school. I was particularly drawn to his personal background getting into Fuqua with below-average stats and his understanding of how to craft a coherent story that highlights not only my work experience but also incorporating my life story to overcome my average GMAT score.
As long as you bring the creativity and are willing to put in the work, John and the Admissionado team excel at crafting your story to demonstrate the qualities sought after by the adcom and there is no reason you will not obtain admission to one of your top choices.
Couldn’t recommend John DC Miles from Admissionado more. He knows the top b-school programs to a T. He takes the time to get to know you, not only your B-school stats, but YOU. Your strengths, weaknesses, passions, life stories, etc. John is the type of person who looks holistically at you as a person and what edge or value you could provide an MBA program…and that is a rare quality amongst the sea of other MBA consultants.
The admissions process is mentally and emotionally taxing. It helps to have a partner with you along the way, coaching you as to how you can submit the best application. That’s what I found in Admissionado: reliability.
They’re also super responsive. They cheer when you cheer. They wish you luck on your biggest moments (taking the GMAT/GRE, interviewing, etc.) They CARE!
If you’re still searching for an MBA advisory firm…look no further. You can trust that your in good hands with Admissionado.
Prior to signing up with Admissionado, I had various consultation calls with 2 other different consulting companies, after phone calls with them, I don’t think I gained much confidence to decide to work with them. While browsing reviews in the forum, those strong positive reviews for John and Admissionado triggered my attention. In the middle of my first initial consultation call with John, I knew that he is the right person who would help me better prepare my application package.
Comparing to other R1 admitted candidates, I would say my academic background is below average (graduated from Top 60 US College, 2 years of work experience, and a 3.05/4.0 GPA) Given the below-average background, I don’t have much confidence to get in Fuqua, but John helped me make this happen. John is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! If Fuqua is one of your top dream programs, I would highly recommend working with John. Given his Double Dukie background, he really knows how to craft your unique story and build up the connection between your characteristics and Fuqua spirit, which would help you easily stand out from other qualified applicants. After 4 rounds of the edit, I am amazed by those tremendous improvements and I definitely could not make this without John and his team’s effort.
Beyond the consulting service, John also cares about his client. The consulting service I had with them didn’t cover the preparation of the virtual campus visit. However, John is willing to help me review and edit the assignment for the virtual mock class presented by the Dean of FUQUA MQM program. I could remember I sent my assignment to John in the late evening around 11:30 PM and John sent back his review and suggestion right in the next day morning at 6:00 AM, 3 hours before the start of mock class. Additionally, he could remember the date I scheduled to take the GRE test and even send an encouraging email a day before the test. Throughout the 3 months of working with John and the Admissionado team (Claudia and Rose), I am extremely grateful for all the help and support I gained from them. Starting from the Resume, essays, to the online application and mock interview, prepping with John is worth every penny!
I began my pursuit of applying to graduate school by deciding to work with a highly reputable consultant who could assist me with preparing my application. After browsing online reviews, I narrowed my selection to a couple of consultants and reached out to the first one to learn more about their process. The first consultant decided not to work with me because I planned on applying to only one school.
Fortunately for me the team at Admissionado did not reject me for that reason and they actually gave me an opportunity to convey why I was seeking their help. I was invited to an introductory call with John. During the call I could tell that John knew how to best position my candidacy because of his experience and that he was invested in helping me succeed. John spent time crafting an action plan for me and assembled a team to assist me with revamping my resume, creating my essays and preparing me for the interviews with the admissions committee. John is jovial but cerebral and working with him will force you to bring your best foot forward during each interaction. His questions are thought-provoking, he encourages you to believe in what you have to offer and you might even find yourself at your wits end at times but all the experiences you gain from working with John and his team will help you thrive and are worth every dime. With their help I was able to showcase my story to the admissions committee and land entry into a top #5 MBA program!
I requested a la carte services but in hindsight I would have gone with the deluxe package. I wholeheartedly recommend working with John and the Admissionado team.
This season I was targeting just one tier-1 business school to apply to and signed up for the Jr Deluxe Package with Admissionado. I knew that I wanted to pursue an MBA, but I have little familiarity with how admissions approach the process on their end. I wanted the professionals to take my story and highlight the pieces that would resonate the most In the beginning, I was paired with John for the complimentary call. I came away very impressed because I was able to ask John specific questions about which parts of my work history and background would appeal to my target school. One of the reasons why I went with John and Admissionado is that the free call already resulted in actionable items for my application. Prior to our formal strategy session, the team asked me to provide background information via their standardized form. Simply put, the goal here is to blitz the Admissionado team with as much information as possible, and it took several hours for me to complete. They then analyzed, sorted, and highlighted the best fit-for-school pieces, all summarized into all into a 16-page document. Basically, I began with my own b-school strategy. Admissionado team also came up with the strategy proposal that they felt was the best fit for my target school. John and I then got on a call and synthesized all of this together and came up with the final game plan. This is exactly the support that I was looking for. The most important part of the process was the essays, and the package comes with 4 rounds of edits. I will say that I thought I had a good handle on the process on my first draft but was over the word limit by 50%. Through the process and edits, we made massive changes including switching to a different aspect of my career for one of the prompts. The end result was an incredible transformation, and was virtually indistinguishable from the first! The team behind the scenes are true professionals at maximizing the quality to word-count ratio. With John and the team’s help, I was accepted to the 1 school I applied for and felt that the Jr Deluxe package was well worth the cost. Believe me, you will not be disappointed by going with this team.
When I contacted John in the fall of 2019, I was at a crossroads in my MBA journey. I had spent 6 years in international and blue-chip banks in the Philippines, I had an international upbringing which I believed to be one of my greatest strengths, and I had a competitive GMAT score of 710. Despite all this, I had failed to be admitted to any schools across 2 rounds of admissions.
When I first spoke with John, I told him that I needed a coach and a quarterback to guide me through the process. In 30 minutes, he was able to glean an understanding of my goals, my strengths, my weaknesses, and most importantly, my overall fit with various MBA programs. Given my location in Manila, it did wonders to work with someone with an in-depth knowledge of US programs, and with John, I was able to create a much more focused list of target schools that complemented my goals and personality.
I leveraged that knowledge and worked with John to craft impactful applications for 3 schools. I applied to Cornell Johnson, UVA Darden, and Dartmouth Tuck in Round 2. I was accepted into Cornell Johnson with a scholarship package and into UVA Darden after just 3 weeks. I was waitlisted at my number 1 pick, Dartmouth Tuck, and was accepted last Friday, making my hit ratio 100%!
John really makes it a point to connect on a personal level, and encouraged me several times to dig deeper into my stories and into my past to find material for essays that allowed me to stand out. Speaking with John makes one feel like a unique individual with something to offer, and this increased sense of confidence and identity played an integral part in my applications.
As an agency, Admissionado was professional, courteous, and very fun to work with! I knew I liked them when I first checked out their website, and if, like me, you are an applicant that doesn’t take yourself too seriously, and you want to work with a consultant and an agency that encourages you to open up by reciprocating in kind, then Admissionado is the agency for you. Lastly, as a professional earning in Philippine Peso, the Admissionado team were incredibly accommodating with flexible payment options and a la carte options that allowed me to make valuable, but prudent, investment decisions in my application process.
Bravo to the Admissionado team and to John!
At the start of my business school application process, I was unsure about where I fit as a candidate, which schools made sense for someone with my profile, and which programs would best position me to make a career transition to another industry. As I was unsure about these critical criteria, I decided to work with Admissionado and John DC MIles to guide me through the application process.
I scheduled video calls with several leading admissions consulting companies but immediately hit it off with John during our introductory conversation. I could tell that John was 1. incredibly bright and talented, 2. very experienced working with applicants of all backgrounds and MBA programs of various statures, and 3. truly invested in his clients’ success. It was an easy decision to work with him.
I worked with John on one Junior Deluxe package, one a la carte essay service, and one resume review, which covered my top two choices of the programs I applied to. Throughout the process, John and the Admissionado team were incredible cheerleaders, mentors, and sounding boards as we bounced ideas off one another to craft a clear professional goal and highlight my strengths while spinning my weaknesses into positives.
The Admissionado team does a fantastic job breaking down challenging essay questions into a simplified formula that enables you to clearly address the different points each prompt overtly and subtly wants you to speak to. I then applied this formula to several other program applications with great success due to John’s support and advice. In the end, I was fortunate to receive admission offers from four programs before ultimately selecting the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. I will be honest, McCombs was my dream school from the beginning of my MBA research process, but I did feel like it was a bit out of reach for someone with my stats and background. John was unrelenting in his support, optimism, and positivity, and without his and his team’s hard work on my behalf, I would likely be going down a much different MBA path.
Throughout the process, John and the Admissionado team were incredibly responsive, frequently turning around edits and redrafts before their self-imposed deadlines. Although the MBA application process can be mentally taxing, I ended up enjoying the journey due to the amount of fun I had working with John.
I would highly recommend John DC Miles for any MBA applicant willing to step outside their comfort zone and be pushed by a sincere advisor who is truly invested in your success!
I signed up for a Deluxe Package with Admissionado and it was hands down the best decision I made during the MBA application process. As a result, I was accepted into both Kellogg and Booth and ultimately chose to attend Kellogg. Without a doubt, Admissionado, and specifically John DC Miles, were the most personable individuals who I spoke to prior to choosing to work with them. You could tell that they were really interested in getting to know me as a person and committed to helping me during the entire process with any questions that I had. Having someone who really cared about me getting accepted made all the difference. John and his entire team were incredibly accessible to answer questions throughout the process and after every conversation, I felt an immediate morale booster. Additionally, their essay reviews were highly extensive, thoughtful, and clear. I know that I would not have come close to a strong final product without their help. There was a quick turn around on edits and I was able to reach out with any questions I had right away. I would strongly recommend working with Admissionado and specifically John Miles for anyone considering applying for a top MBA program. They will not let you down!
I can’t tell you about other consulting firms, but in my country, Admissionado is considered a very respected and well-known firm. Nobody who has used their services has been rejected yet. I was very happy to cooperate with Admissionado and I was very fortunate to have John as my consultant. He really knows how to do his job very well. From my first conversation with John, it was clear to me that he is very professional and I was confident that I would be accepted to the business school of my choice. He was very helpful, kind and communicative, always willing to reply to all my questions. I definitely recommend him and his firm to prospective students.
International applicant here, I’ve had a very positive experience with John DC Miles and Admissionado and highly recommend them 🙂
I worked on essays for 5 schools + resume + interview prep support and I couldn’t be happier. Additionally, I repurposed the material I had prepared with their help to apply to 3 more schools. The result: 4 acceptances (including my M7 stretch schools), 3 waitlists and 1 reject.
Business school is a big investment, you get your MBA once (ideally!) and want to do it right. I decided to invest a fraction of the cost of B-school in order to put forth my best application.
The folks at Admissionado are professional and competent. They understand the admissions process deeply and can help you turn your story into something the AdCom would drool over. At the start of the process, John DC Miles was assigned to me. He came off as friendly, professional and well versed in the admissions game. From the initial brainstorming session, where he asked me questions about my profile and experiences, to the document with targeted recommendations on how best to express your goals and aspirations, to the impressively detailed essay assistance, I feel I derived significant value from the engagement.
Fair warning, they are guides. The research, the work, and the imagination is all yours. If you have John by your side, have good stats (GMAT, work experience) and are willing to put in the work, get ready to fulfill your B-school dream.
Admissionado stood out from the competition from the start. They seemed a lot friendlier and down-to-earth than other consultants I had talked to. They were super willing to help and I felt that their approach was much more personable and tailored to my needs.
I was paired with John and I must say he did a great job guiding me through the daunting process of MBA applications, from brain-storming schools to actually helping with the essays and general application queries. He helped with 3 Top schools on the west coast and was super happy with the outcome. I got into 2 of them with scholarships and got an interview with another (still waiting for the outcome on that). Not having access to people that had been through the process, John helped me frame the applications in the best possible way and frame a story that makes sense for me, the schools and for my goals.
Claudia and the rest of the team are also super helpful and always cheered for me from the start!
Thanks a lot!
Before John was recommended to me, I had interviewed two other consultants who also came highly regarded. I hadn’t been impressed with either and when I spoke with John I knew instantly it was a fit. I told him my concerns: I needed someone who would respond in a timely manner and who would help me craft my story. John set clear expectations from the get-go about turnaround time and he instilled confidence in me that I had a good story to share.
John helped me research schools and programs, which would best suit my career goals and interests. Beyond that, John helped me brainstorm ideas for essays and gave me editorial help. John surpassed all expectations when it came to that. I always felt he was honest and if he didn’t feel like the story made sense or the essay wasn’t quite there he was very candid. The entire process was collaborative and with John a lot less daunting.
This review wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t share a personal anecdote. I was re-applying for admissions this year, and I was feeling a bit hesitant to go ahead since I didn’t know how to best portray the change in my story through the essays. During one of our calls, not only did John help me understand the gaps in my applications from my previous attempt, but he also provided an in-depth perspective on how to best highlight my progress since the last year. Whenever I was feeling a bit low regarding my chances, John instilled confidence in me and he was my personal cheerleader through the entire process.
I cannot recommend John enough for his creativity, his brilliance in crafting stories, and his ability to serve as a personal coach throughout the entire process in areas one might not expect! Do not even hesitate when choosing an adviser. I can guarantee you all expectations will be exceeded with John!
John and the team are rock star essay reviewers, mock interviewers, and general advice-givers. The folks at Admissionado are by no means magicians, but they will guide you step-by-step through the application process to help you put your best foot forward. The multiple iterations of essay drafts are hard work but well worth it. I’m confident that John’s consulting services played a huge role in my admission to UT McCombs and would recommend him to anyone applying to b-school!
I was looking to get on online MBA programs. Worked along with John DC Miles who was best qualified to help me with online grad schools. He did a very well comprehensive analysis of my application and came out with a strategy and helped me identify my strengths to guide me during each step of the application process. He helped me on each element of my application to polish it to stand out. I ended up being accepted at my top 2 schools. Now that I finished the application process, I don’t think that I would have come with an excellent application without his help. I definitely recommend their service.
I contacted Admissionado during my senior year at the University of Southern California and was advised to call John, who was best qualified to help me with European grad schools.
With a 3.1 GPA, a couple of summer internships and no experience with the GRE nor the GMAT, I no idea of where to start. But John helped me identify my strengths and guided me during each step of the application, from my resume to the GRE.
John is smart, honest and makes himself available for his clients. He will follow your intuition, but you can safely trust him. Overall, John is a tremendous consultant who gave each element of my application a well-needed polish to stand out from the crowd. And it sure worked.
I applied to six schools and got into every single one of them (HEC, IE Madrid, Hult, Bocconi, ESCP and ESSEC). I am now heading to HEC Paris (one of the best schools in the world) for my masters and John as well as the rest of Admissionado helped make it possible.
Don’t think about it twice!
I was referred to Admissionado through another client who had previously worked with John (unbeknownst to me at the time) and had loved her experience. After my first call with them I stopped looking at other consulting firms – their ease and speed of communication and personalized attention made me feel right at home immediately and I knew I was in good hands. Working with John and the entire team was such an easy process right from the beginning. Knowing that I wanted some extra support, I chose to do the unlimited package for two schools and have never once regretted spending the money to do so. John was always accessible and attentive and was with me every step of the way, he even got on the phone with me to review my online applications line by line (a boring and time consuming process that I’m sure was not the most interesting work) to make sure that I felt comfortable before hitting submit. I’ll be attending my dream school (Fuqua) next year on a partial scholarship and truly don’t think I could have put forth as strong of an application without John and the team at Admissionado.
Thanks to John and the Admissionado team, I got admitted to LBS and Warwick with a generous scholarship! I could not have done without them. Their encouragement, perseverance and support means a lot me!
A big shout-out to you and the entire Admissionado team! Woo-hoo!!
John and I worked together on 9 schools and I was able to get into one of my top choices (Tuck). We worked together on the pre-application planning (mapping out short-term and long-term goals), essay review, letter of recommendation help, and interview prep.
He’s not only very good at helping you put together a coherent story for your application but he’s also great to work with. He’s more than happy to hop on a call or discuss something over email even if it’s going beyond the help they’re supposed to provide.
If you’re applying to schools, I would certainly recommend Admissionado and John.
I made the decision to work with Admissionado based on very positive reviews from colleagues who had worked with them in past years through their own MBA admissions process, and am very glad that I had them as a resource during the stressful process of applying to schools. I worked with John DC Miles, who was able to help me piece my application story together – a critical piece to my success as an applicant to both Fuqua and Tuck. During my initial phone call with John, he spent over an hour on the phone with me, listening to me discuss my work experience and all of the seemingly minute aspects of who I am and what I have accomplished. He then put it together into a comprehensive action plan, which I was able to use throughout my essay writing and even interview preparation process. In addition to a comprehensive action plan, John and the Admissionado team also provided valuable essay advice, in addition to interview prep, which allowed me to go into my interviews with confidence. Although my GRE score wasn’t particularly notable, John was both honest and encouraging as I voiced my stresses and concerns to him about my candidacy; he helped me, through many impromptu phone check-ins and email exchanges, to articulate and believe in the best aspects of myself, giving me confidence to know that I was presenting the best version of myself to the AdComm. I have been accepted early action to Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and can’t thank John and the Admissionado team enough for being a part of my success!
