Hi Mr. Almost CPA! This is Kate Richardson, Senior Admissions Consultant. Based on the info you shared, I’m going to assume you are targeting Stern’s part-time program, as I believe they only offer GMAT waivers for that program, not the full-time program. So I’ve put your odds fairly high since part-time acceptance rates are often in the 40-50% range (whereas full-time for Stern is around 25%). With that assumption, I think you’ve got a solid profile for Stern, with about 5 years work experience in progressive roles and I like the M&A and international exposure you have, which seems less typical than Big 4 accounting work. I find your post MBA goals admirable, but for purposes of applying I would try to bring some more …

Mr. Almost CPA – thanks for posting your profile. Susan Cera here from Stratus. I’m impressed by your commitment to education in financing your undergrad education. Early congrats on getting your CPA! Assuming you are applying for the part-time program at Stern, I think you are a solid candidate. You remind me a bit of a former client who is now in his second year in the NYU EMBA program! Your work experience is solid. To land a seat in the program, you need to use your essays (including the fun Pick Six) to tell your story and demonstrate your EQ. Beyond your expertise in accounting, what sort of classmate will you be? How have you demonstrated self-awareness and supported others in the past.
