Candidate:

Mr. Bird Watcher

About Me:

I spent my quarter-life crisis fighting existential dread. So I studied history, philosophy, politics, and psychology, while working a full-time job, and decidedly devoted my life to serving others. I have a low GPA due to a slew of personal issues, but I started college with half my credits already fulfilled because I studied double the course-load in highschool and excelled. My love for learning has only increased after overcoming my personal issues, and I have sought help to become a better learner and better person. I am comfortably a jack of all trades, master of none, both a poet and a quant. My work involves analyzing frontier technology despite a generalist background, so I rely on the expertise of others and a suspicion of my own opinions. My mind is on Kellogg because of the people I know and have met from the school, its cross-disciplinary education, and its focus on ethics and philosophy. It’s the only school where after learning a person is an alumni of the program, I think: “Oh, of course, he/she is an X MBA alumnus” in a good way.

Later in my life, I would like to attend law school (I have a 99.8 percentile average practice LSAT score), and join a large NGO.

Hi Mr. Bird Watcher, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. I always love to see a poet and quant! Makes you tough to put in a bucket – which is great. So letā€™s start with your stats – your lower than average GPA sounds like can be explained and is nicely complimented by your strong GRE score (helps to be a tutor I am sure!) Also the fact that youā€™ve done banking shows you have the quant ability to do well in any program – so I think you are solid here. Your work experience in banking will be attractive and is one of the two routes (the other being consulting) that I see setting graduates up for highly coveted PE jobs post-MBA. While it sounds …
