Hi Mr. Hopeful B School Investment Analyst, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. There are so many questions that I want to ask you to help give a better assessment, but in lieu of the answers, I’ll try and provide some things you should make sure you are thinking about through applications. So overall – your stats are very strong – and that puts you in a very good position out of the gate. And every year, applicants with strong stats alone do not get accepted to top programs. (We normally meet them the year later 🙂 Admissions is a holistic process – and yes, your stats will be a huge advantage to your application, but they are not all that adcomms want to know about …
(We normally meet them the year later 🙂 Admissions is a holistic process – and yes, your stats will be a huge advantage to your application, but they are not all that adcomms want to know about you. Your short term goal makes sense: banking to PE and while this can be an ambitious goal, the fact that you have banking experience puts you in the running. I’d love to hear more about why PE and what impact you want to have on the world. Stanford in particular is going to want to know this. What problem do you want to solve through PE that will improve people, organizations or the world? I’d also love to know more about your involvement in your community – both at ASU and since. Adcomms are going to look towards your past impacts as indication that you will do great things in the future – this can be both in your career and through your community. And finally, you’d be at abotu 2.5 years of experience at matriculation – which is below the 3-8 years we see as the middle 80% range. Does this mean you need to wait a year – maybe. If you want to apply with 2.5 years of experience, you will be able to show that you have had experiences larger than your years of experience suggests. You will want to highlight leadership experiences both through college and work. And show that you’ve had enough experience to bring a solid perspective to classroom discussions. Again, your stats show you will be competitive at top programs, and now you need to be able to show you are the whole package through your story and goals. Wishing you the best of luck and please sign up for a consult if you’d like to talk about your profile further. My current assessment is based on the info provided – and strong answers to these questions could raise your chance.
