Hi, and thanks for writing! You have a really well-rounded profile: strong academics, community involvement within and outside of work, and progressive experience in consulting. While you’re certainly a contender for top MBA programs, I think your success will come down to application execution. Make sure that in your essays (in particular, Stanford’s What Matters Most essay and HBS’s main essay) you speak from the heart and talk about what has shaped you into who you are today – for example, what has driven your passion for mentorship? Why are you so interested in technology – any professional and personal experience in particular that have flamed this interest?

Additionally, given the unpredictable nature of admissions (and GSB’s exceptional competitiveness) I’d suggest expanding your list just a bit in anticipation of a competitive admissions year. I think Kellogg and (as a safer option) Ross are great choices to add given their strengths in both consulting and tech. Best of luck!
Hi Mr. LATAM Tech—this is Donna Bauman with Stratus admissions and I am happy to review your profile. In order to give you a better sense of your odds at GSB I would need to know more about what makes you tick. I encourage you to think about what excites you about consulting? What big problem out there in the world do you want to solve above all others? You have a great education behind you and a great GRE score—but to crack the HBS and GSB nut—you will need to share more about yourself and your motivations. The same holds true for other M7 programs—but it is most critical in the essays for GSB and HBS. I think you could benefit from our introspection …

The same holds true for other M7 programs—but it is most critical in the essays for GSB and HBS. I think you could benefit from our introspection process that helps you identify some of your unique strengths and then look at MBA programs through the lens of what you need in an MBA to reach your goal rather than just going for M7. There might be something at Ross or Haas that will be the best fit so I hate to see you limit yourself. Now is a great time to do some of the introspection that will make writing these essays easier in a few months! Let me know if you would like to know more about how we can help!
