After graduating from Vanderbilt, I worked briefly in finance before joining the Army. After multiple deployments as an infantry officer, I rotated into my current position as an instructor at a school for young officers. I am taking a few finance classes at a local community college because of my low GPA. **Additional comments: Mr. Military Non-Profit is taking a few finance classes at a local college to boost the low GPA.

Hello Mr. Military Non-Profit! Krista Nannery from mbaMission here. Thanks for posting. What an interesting path you have taken! Love that you are teaching the next generation of Army officers. And I LOVE that you are helping recruit underrepresented groups to the Army. Thank you too for being proactive about taking those extra classes to help with your GPA. Now here’s the thing…military candidates are always in hot demand, but your competition is going to be toughest at the schools you have listed, where you will be up against Navy Seals, Army Rangers and the like. So while I definitely think you should throw your hat into the ring at these programs, I’d like you to consider schools like Ross, Fuqua, Haas, Yale, Kellogg, and Darden. …

Your GPA at programs like these will give you more options and these are schools that are more actively pursuing military candidates. I hope that helps a bit. All the best for your applications and thank you for your service. Krista
