Hi Mr. Naval Architect, this is Julie-Anne Heafey from mbaMission. There’s a lot to like in your profile, and I really like your mix of target schools. Considering you are applying from a highly competitive pool (Indian engineers) and your GMAT is only just slightly above the average at Kellogg, it’s super smart to have a backup plan. Of course, I am also hoping you have good luck with your target school, but I think you have some improvements you can make to your pitch as you’ve captured it here. I’m not sure if you’ve already applied, but when you do, what I’d love to hear more about is your leadership on the job. In the above recap, several of your leadership accomplishments seem …
In the above recap, several of your leadership accomplishments seem to be in undergrad, but you’ve been out of school for a while. Since it sounds like you don’t have a lot of extracurricular involvement (though perhaps you can think more broadly about what you might describe here), you’re going to have to be showing it in your regular work life…and ideally, not just in your responsibilities but in your accomplishments. I see you were part of a sea rescue team…that’s very exciting. Remember to show YOUR role so they can see your impact within that team. As for goals, you sound a bit broad/vague, which is not unusual for someone coming out of the military but if I were you, I’d try to narrow it down a bit further in either type of employer or function through some more research because you want to be able to articulate your passions and future path at least somewhat clearly so they know you’re ready to take full advantage of the MBA. Good luck!
