Mr. Sailor in Suit, I presume you either love sailing or were in the U.S. Navy? In either case, you are an excellent candidate for INSEAD. Your background in engineering at a top state school with a strong GPA of 3.6 and an even stronger GMAT score of 740 (well above the class average at INSEAD) is a really good start to your story. More importantly, though, you are from the U.S. (INSEAD loves Americans) and you have a career in the Valley that would allow you to make a valuable contribution in INSEAD classes. Mr. Sailor in Suit, I presume you either love sailing or were in the U.S. Navy? In either case, you are an excellent candidate for INSEAD. That doesn’t mean you have had to work abroad but you should have some exposure to the wider world. If you don’t, that can become a major hurdle for you at INSEAD. I’m assuming that you can at least spin a half way decent story on having worked with associates in different parts of the world. DO spin that story. If you can, I think you can pack your bags for France or Singapore.!
