Candidate:

Mr. Tambourine Man

About Me:

I currently work for a tech consulting firm, leading our Cloud & Data Analytics sales strategy for a portfolio composed of American Express, Mastercard, and other credit card companies. During my time at my organization, I’ve been fortunate enough to be promoted 3 times in 4 years – and am now leading a team of 6 across the US.

Details:

Undergrad School: Private Jesuit In Northeast

Undergrad Major: Finance

GPA: 3.3

GMAT: 740

Age: 26,  Ethnicity: White

Extracurriculars: Mentor high school students looking to be first in their family to attend college. Started a charity for Veteran's Home in my hometown which has raised over $10,000.

Work History:

Title: Global Account Lead

Industry: Technology

Company: Global

Length of Employment: 4 yrs

Big Life Wins:

Before being promoted, I led our team at Yale University – growing annual revenues from $2MM to a present day $10MM. Prior to joining my company, I was the first in my family to attend college; and while there started the Wounded Warrior Club (my dad is in the military), was an Orientation Leader, and a First Year Student Mentor.

Post MBA Goal:

I would like to go into consulting Post-MBA with a focus on Public/Private partnerships. My ultimate goal is to lead the part of an organization like the Gates, Obama, or Clinton Foundation that is focused on building an education system for the jobs that exist today rather than the jobs that existed years ago; by partnering with a private sector.

Congrats on your rapid promotions and success in your career! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission. I think there are a lot of strengths in your profile – outstanding work trajectory and achievements, solid GMAT score (which should offset your soft GPA), and active leadership within your community. As you put your apps together, be sure to explain why you’re interested in pivoting into consulting with a public/private partnerships from your current role in Tech. What motivates you to be a part of organizations like the Gates Foundation? I imagine you can tie in your mentoring experiences to your interest in this area. If you can articulate this compellingly in your essays, that would be the key to your application success. If …
