Coming from a background with limited privileges, have constantly faced adversities to be at the top of my class and peers throughout my education and career. While there have been several wins in my career in terms of growth and learning, I’d say the biggest win has been earning the trust of friends & family and managing ~USD 0.5 mn of their portfolio.
My journey to date has groomed me as a problem solver and helped in making an impact on clients. However, working for PE/ VC clients on interesting deals, I’ve realized that I could create a bigger impact being in PE/VC industry and derive a higher degree of professional satisfaction and value.

Hi Mr. Transaction Advisor & Wildlife Photographer! I have a warm spot in my heart for tenacious, empathetic leaders who come from less privileged backgrounds like yourself and I sincerely want to see you as an M7 MBA… and that’s why I’m giving you some tough love hopefully when you need it. If you apply as-is today based on what I can see, I don’t think your odds are very strong. There are two areas I’d suggest you focus to get the highest ROI: (1) Find a 1:1 test prep/test anxiety tutor who can leverage meaningful diagnostics and individualized strategies to get you the best ROI on your investment – both time and money. There is a false sentiment out there that if the traditional test prep paths aren’t getting candidates results that they just aren’t cut out for a higher score. However, you are an individual, with individual ways of learning… and that requires an individualized test prep plan. Trust me, it’s worth revisiting the drawing board on this one! (2) AdCom wants to see that you care about making an impact on the community – this will give them confidence that you will make meaningful contributions to the betterment of their program and be an active member of society post-MBA. Find something you are passionate about and help to bring that to others in your “free time” (if that even exists in this world, especially when it sounds like you are also working to better the outcomes for others in your life). There are smart, strategic ways to make a large impact without a significant time investment. Think creatively, form a plan/timeline, and execute fiercely my friend!
P.S. I love your passion for the outdoors. Hold on to that – the peace and tranquility that you gain in the woods will serve you well in life… and the creative eye you gain from your photography will help you bring differentiated ideas to the forefront in the workplace.
