I am from southeast Georgia. My father was a minister. I wanted to play football at an Ivy league, but UGA offered me full tuition and it was difficult to pass on that with my father making a pastor’s salary.
I went to UGA and made a 4.0 and decided to do investment banking for the top 5 BB (M&A) and head-hunted after 1 year to top 20 net worth in the US family office.

Responsible for training sophomores and juniors to get jobs in investment banking, consulting, venture capital/PE, and tech., I work with an organization that mentors prisoners in order to help them reacclimate and succeed outside of prison. Specifically, I spend the majority of my time mentoring and meeting with a group of six teenagers who have fathers in prison, as there is a significant likelihood that a youth who has a parent in prison will be incarcerated themselves. Research shows the presence of positive male role models is the the most helpful variable with regards to breaking this cycle., Deacon at my non-denominational church. Deacons are responsible for "serving" the congregation in whatever means necessary. Not meant to be simply a position of honor. The literal translation of "deacon" is "table-waiter." Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. While your academics are solid and your career trajectory is impressive, I’m especially moved by your commitment to making an impact at the prison and church and by how much each cause resonates with you. Harvard, and the other schools you target, will certainly want to hear more about how you got into each involvement, the impact you’ve made, and the lessons you have learned along the way.
Regarding your career goal of ascending within your current firm (taking it in the new direction you mention), HBS would certainly give you the leadership skills you need to take the reins. Given how competitive the program is (and how unpredictable admissions can be), though, I would expand the …
Regarding your career goal of ascending within your current firm (taking it in the new direction you mention), HBS would certainly give you the leadership skills you need to take the reins. Given how competitive the program is (and how unpredictable admissions can be), though, I would expand the list to other schools with strengths in finance, leadership, and entrepreneurship: Columbia, Wharton, and Booth are a few that come to mind immediately.
I hope that helps a bit – I’d welcome the opportunity to have a consultation with you if you’d like to discuss in more detail. Take care and best of luck!
