After multiple failed attempts at a career change over the years, a full-time MBA has transitioned from a luxury to a necessity for me. Based on my understanding, a full-time MBA from a top program appears to be the optimal choice at this stage of my career. However, even though it feels like a lifetime ago, my undergraduate GPA continues to present a significant hurdle in my pursuit of an M7 MBA.
I am a full-time working professional in the dry bulk shipping industry, responsible for transporting large quantities (30-180,000 tons) of raw commodities such as grains, iron ore, coal, fertilizers, steels, cement, etc., globally. Acting as a middleman, I facilitate the chartering of dry bulk vessels, bringing together shipowners and charterers seeking to transport goods. I have also been an entrepreneur, leader, and instructor in industries such as logistics, military, and finance.
As a first-generation college graduate originally from a village in Bangladesh, I migrated to Singapore, learned English, completed military service, and then moved to the U.S.A. for my undergraduate studies. I am no stranger to overcoming obstacles.
I would like to know my chances of being accepted to Wharton, CBS, and Yale for R3 given my low undergraduate GPA. If I wait and apply in R1, then what are my chances of getting into HBS, GSB, Wharton, Booth, and MIT?
