HI Ms. African Account Manager Krista from mbaMission here. Thanks for posting. B-schools don’t get enough African candidates so I’m excited to see you apply and see what happens. I also love your work experience and personal narrative of helping your siblings with their education. That being said, you are applying with 10+ years more experience than the average candidate, which may put you at a disadvantage. I highly highly recommend that you consider MIT Sloan Fellows, the one year MBA program targeted at people just like you. The great thing about this program is that you can apply to the regular MIT Sloan MBA but ask to be considered for Sloan Fellows in case you have too much experience for the regular MBA program. I …

I still want to see you apply to Fuqua, Yale and Johnson but I just want to make sure you have a backup option in case your age keeps you out of the running. I think you are doing the right thing by trying the GRE again. I’d love to see that score a bit higher. I wish you all the best for this process, Krista
Unclear as to current location. Would like to know where she is authorized to work, visa requirements, etc. Senior account executive is a reach, however I like seeing people pushing the envelope. I’m sure expectations are somewhere in between. Fortune 500 leaves a few questions. Having lived in Africa, and much of the 3rd world it can be challenging to relate all your hard work into “corporate jargon” so I applaud her for that. I believe account executive will be a bit of a stretch. I believe a more focused technology vertical targeted at specific companies in the global market for that skillet would really help get into a senior account manager position.. 02 cents and best of luck to this ambitious and clearly intelligent young woman!
