I was born and raised in Northwest Mexico. During university, I was involved in several extracurriculars, especially those oriented towards improving society. I worked for two years in the automotive industry (I was the only woman chosen to join from the program). Afterward, I joined the family business and applied my knowledge to improve it.

After joining my family business I was able to seize some of its gaps and decided to work on them. In a two year period (with reluctant senior management) we changed into a new warehouse, redesigned its layout, changed to a new ERP, certified the business in ISO9001:20015. I led most of the projects or supervised them.
I want to use the acquired knowledge of the MBA to expand the business, continue to improve it, and start other businesses within the same industry (healthcare) to create a business cluster.

Hi Ms. Community Impact! This is Kate Richardson, Senior Admissions Consultant. Sounds like you have been a part of some exciting changes at your company! Right off the bat, your family business experience and leadership within the company will be a positive. Your adaptability to different environments, even male-dominated ones, and desire to have an impact would be key strengths to highlight. I also think Stanford will love your engineering background and high GPA. Especially if you can round out that academic profile with a strong showing on the GRE. As you likely know, Stanford is the most selective b-school out there, but I do think you’ve got a solid shot. You should have even better odds at LBS, and I think you should also …

As you likely know, Stanford is the most selective b-school out there, but I do think you’ve got a solid shot. You should have even better odds at LBS, and I think you should also consider Harvard (worth a shot too) and Wharton (strong in healthcare) and Columbia (robust family business offering). Good luck!
Ms. Community Impact – Thanks for posting your profile! Susan Cera here from Stratus.
Your solid undergrad in engineering and high impact work experience serve as a strong foundation for submitting solid applications. You should shoot to get close to the average on your GMAT/GRE to position yourself for success at Stanford.
I like that you are engaged in your community and making an impact. Stanford wants people who change lives, change organizations and change the world. It sounds like you are already doing the first two. How will Stanford set you up to make a bigger impact through your family business? Why does this matter to you? Answer these questions and you have a great shot!
