Hi Ms. Consultant To Social Entrepreneur, I like your passion for social impact, especially in sustainable rural development! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission and GSB alum. I think you have a lot of strengths in your profile – strong professional experiences, solid GRE and extracurriculars. I think your softer undergrad GPA should be offset by your GRE score. That said, AdCom would be curious to learn more about the reasons for your passion in sustainable rural development. Did any personal experiences influence this motivation? Hi Ms. Consultant to Social Entrepreneur! This is Donna Bauman with Stratus Admissions and I am happy to weigh in on your profile. The fact that you have such passion for sustainable rural development will help you in your GSB application—be sure to say what matters most to you and why. Stanford wants to know what you value, what your goals are and then they also want to know how you have had an impact on your communities and can see how your experiences have shaped your perspectives. Share your impact in the clubs you have led and in your work. You have the main essays as well as the shorter questions where you can talk about your impact if you cannot fit it naturally into your essay on what matters most. Since Stanford is the most competitive MBA program, you may want to expand your list if you want to increase your odds of being in an MBA program next year. Yale SOM, Ross, Fuqua, Kellogg, Booth and Haas all come to mind as programs that may also help you transition to social entrepreneurship. To be successful at GSB—make sure you explain those four points I noted at the start—1) What do you value? 2) Where do you want to go? 3) What impact have you had on your communities? 4) How have your experiences shaped your perspectives? If you would like to talk further to a Stratus counselor, I recommend you seek out our counselor Soterios Rouman, a GSB MBA and HBS undergrad
