Hi Ms. Craniofacial, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. There is a lot to like in your profile – and while many things stand out, the fact that you have already been accepted the ‘H’ of HBS gives you insight to the program – and others doing the joint degree – that other applicants won’t have! You have an advantage, in a way, to get to know the program – however I think that also means your engagement bar will be high. Make sure that you take the time to reach out and get to know students in the program. While your GRE is on the lower end, it is still within the published range. And with your comparative success at medical school, you are showing your ability to handle academic rigor. It looks like you have strong community involvement within your industry (which is great as it is tied to your goals), HBS will be looking for examples of leadership there in addition to volunteering. While it sounds like you’ve already received strong internship and leadership opportunities, through your story, you will want to ensure your leadership potential shines through. Why was it against all odds that you received the internship in Australia? Why were you nominated for the leadership forum? Telling these stories may help you pull out your very unique perspective. From a goals perspective, it sounds like you are really building a strong set of tools to open your Craniofacial Institute. Is this a short term goal? Or is there a step along the way? You have obviously achieved a lot in your career to date (not to mention 3 kids!) and will have a very memorable story. I think you have a strong chance at HBS – and while I completely understand the HBS/HKS connection, you might want to consider MIT where you can also do a joint degree with HKS. Best of luck!
