Hi Ms. Game Changer, This is Debbie Choy, GSB alum and Senior Consultant at mbaMission. Your background is impressive – from being a top performer in school to now leading key projects at a large multinational firm like PwC. I also like that you’ve been active in international organizations like helping to organize Forums of European Youth Parliament. Your “stats” look robust although your GMAT score is shade below the average at GSB; I don’t think it is a red flag given your strong GPA and other merit scholarship achievements. That said, be sure to weave in your personal stories to help the Admissions Committee (AdCom) understand what motivates you, or what has influenced your passions. Also important is more clearly defining your future career goals …

That said, be sure to weave in your personal stories to help the Admissions Committee (AdCom) understand what motivates you, or what has influenced your passions. Also important is more clearly defining your future career goals and why you need an MBA beyond wanting to explore different fields. Although it’s common for candidates to go to business school to learn about different industries, AdCom still wants to know what could be one achievable career path for you given your background – hence they ask about your career goals in the essays (specifically Essay B for GSB). If you can tie your future career goals compellingly with your current background and interests, that will help AdCom better understand how a MBA will help you. Best of luck in your journey!
Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. There’s a lot to like about what you’ve listed here! Off the bat, just being from Georgia is a big differentiator. It’s not a country MBA programs get that many applicants from so you’ll stand out just on that, and especially since you’re a woman. Your GPA and GMAT are great. I’d say that GMAT even though under GSB’s average will be above average of the demographic you’ll be compared to so you’ll be in good shape. Your experience in accounting is solid. I think your main challenge is going to be to tell a very clear and compelling story to admissions. What exactly do you want to do? Remember that at GSB they want people who …

How will you do that? What ST role do you want to go after, and at what company? What about LT? And why is an MBA necessary? I’d encourage you to apply to some other schools as well since Stanford admits about 6% of applicants. You’ll be a very attractive applicant at a lot of schools in the Top 10 and Top 15!
