I am passionate about the intersection of technology and retail innovation. After working at a leading e-commerce company in the US, I moved back to China and joined the largest tech company to build out the first social commerce ecosystem, designing and implementing omnichannel strategies for brands.

Hi Ms. Global Connector, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. So what I am seeing consistent with other women I have worked with that have been successful at HBS (and Stanford) is strong impact both professionally and personally. Looks like you make things happen – and that will be very attractive to both schools. I love that you show a habit of creating new (co-founding groups, launching an innovation challenge). I think this is important because it sounds like you want to build something that doesn’t exist (pervasively) yet. You are showing that you have a track record of being successful with innovation and getting initiatives off the ground. The differences I see are your fewer years of work experience – looks like you’d be close …
The differences I see are your fewer years of work experience – looks like you’d be close to 3 at matriculation. It will be up to you to convince admissions that now is the right time for you and that you have had enough experience to be a strong contributor in the classroom. Another year at work would make you even stronger. The other piece that would be helpful is more clearly articulating (examples are really powerful) on how you want to revolutionize people’s habits. I am not really clear on what type of a role or company you would work at or need to start to achieve this – either short or long term. It is up to you to make sure admissions understands what you want to do – and that it is achievable. Spend some time cultivating some examples here – and they will go a long way. I am putting you slightly above average primarily because of your years of experience. This would increase significantly with another year under your belt. Good luck!
