As a fresh graduate, I played a significant media consulting role covering a nation-wide education campaign for a Govt Ministry, and this won praise from client. Recently, I found joy and satisfaction to be able to lead a small team overseas for a 2 week-long missions trip, and I am still contributing to the organization/community now.
I see MBA education as an opportunity to learn from classmates who each come with their own expertise and experience, and also to contribute to the school community. I intend to up my skillsets in Finance (since I might pursue the PE career path), to focus on Corporate Strategy and Org Behaviour. Post-graduation, I hope to work in NYC or London.

Hi Ms. MBA Grad Hopeful, I’m impressed by your role leading MarCom for a big firm covering the APAC market. This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission. Having grown up in Singapore myself, I know there’s a lot of talented professionals there, and it’s a testament to your skills that you’re doing well at work, eg. your role in a government education campaign. I also like that you’re engaged with your community and leading mission trips. As you put your apps together, be sure to explain why you’re interested in pivoting to MBB or PE. On that point, the path to MBB is quite different from PE. Most candidates who enter PE have a prior investment banking background. I think it would be clearer in your apps …
I think it would be clearer in your apps if you pick one path and articulate why you’re passionate about it, and what transferable skills you might bring from your background to be successful. Your undergrad GPA is a shade soft for Wharton, Booth and HBS. If you can score well in your GMAT, that would help offset the GPA. If there were any circumstances that affected your undergrad GPA, consider explaining it in the Optional Essay. Finally, don’t hesitate to share your personal stories that have shaped you as a leader and professional. These experiences can help the Admissions Committee get to know you better and understand what motivates you, what you value, and so on. I think if you can weave these personal stories compellingly with your professional stories, you can have a good shot at Wharton.
