Hi, Ms. Social Responsibility, this is Julie-Anne Heafey of mbaMission. Congratulations on your stellar GPA, especially considering your mental health struggles. Well done. I agree that the schools will also scrutinize your transcript looking for your ability to handle that aspect of an MBA program — if you don’t have past quant. coursework on your transcript, you can always take a course this summer, ideally one that will give an actual grade. They’ll also look at your GMAT for quant strength, so hopefully that side of your test is strong…if not, I recommend that you at least consider a retake. The other thing I’d love to know more about is your past path and how it lines up with your …

The other thing I’d love to know more about is your past path and how it lines up with your future goals, with the MBA as the bridge. What in your past experiences is leading you to CSR work in the future and what kind of role did you have in mind (not all CSR roles need an MBA so do some research)? Having a clear objective that makes sense will help your candidacy! Good luck!
Hello Ms. Social Responsibility, Lisa Cummings of Stratus Admissions here. I am glad to hear that you were able to overcome your health issues and still have great success in college – your 3.9 is super impressive! Kudos to you. Your GMAT score is also in the range of your target schools. However, as a former adcomm member at MIT Sloan, one question I have on your candidacy is your quant readiness. Did you take any/many quant courses undergrad such as stats or calculus? Have you used much quant in your post college roles? If you didn’t take quant in college and don’t really use it much now, would you consider taking an on line course to show your schools …

If you didn’t take quant in college and don’t really use it much now, would you consider taking an on line course to show your schools that you can cut the mustard in the quant core? This will not be a deal breaker for you but you will want to look for places where you can highlight those skills where you can. I’d also like to learn more about your extracurricular activities, especially those you have engaged in post college. This is a great opportunity to highlight your leadership skils. You will need to craft a solid narrative showing how you plan to make that transition from fundraising to CSR and why you need an MBA degree to make that pivot. I wish you the best of luck!
Hi, Ms. Social Responsibility, Julie-Anne Heafey here from mbaMission. Congratulations on your stellar academic performance despite your mental health challenges; that’s very admirable. I agree that quantitative skills will be something schools will look at closely, both on your transcript and in your standardized test performance (so hopefully your performance on the quant side is well-balanced with your verbal). If not, I would think about retaking your test if you can; agree that coursework can also be helpful. I also would want to know more about your goals– what CSR roles are you targeting that need an MBA, and what skills will you build in the program vs. which ones you already bring to the table from your current role. I’m not clear on how your current and past roles relate or what inspires you to this dream job, so help them understand how your story fits together. Good luck!
