Can This Indian IT Male Get Into HBS With A 3.4 GPA But 750 GMAT?

He’s not an ordinary IT guy. With a 750 GMAT score, Jacob is going to get the attention of most admission officers. Originally from India, he now works in Singapore as the manager of telco data partnerships for one of the largest telecommunication firms in Asia. He sports a 3.4 GPA in electrical engineering from the National University of Singapore.

And he wants to get an MBA to switch careers into one of two areas: a product leadership role at a new startup or a product strategy advisory position at a venture firm. His list of target business schools makes clear a serious ambition to enroll at the best possible school: HBS, Stanford, INSEAD, Wharton, Columbia, Booth, and Kellogg.

Does he have a real shot? Or will he fail to climb out of the most overrepresented pool of candidates, Indian male engineers who work in IT..

In this Fridays with Sandy episode, HBSGuru.com founder Sandy Kreisberg assesses his odds.
