MBA Handicapping: Bainie, BYU Athlete = H/S/W?

For his MBA journey, Shaquille is aiming high. In his sights are the five of the M7 schools: Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Kellogg, and Columbia. Plus, he’s added Yale School of Management and the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

But he’s bringing plenty to the party. An associate consultant at Bain & Co., Shaquille had been a professional athlete in track, co-founded a fitness equipment startup, and served as captain of Brigham Young University’s track and field team. He’s also launched a new three-day program at Bain for low-income high school and college students to give them a glimpse into the career of a consultant.

He also served as a full-time service missionary in England for two years, racked up a 3.74 GPA at BYU, majoring in exercise science, has a GMAT score of 710. His post-MBA goals are to return to consulting to continue gaining generalist skills before starting his own company.

What are his chances of getting in?

HBSGuru Founder Sandy Kreisberg, in this Fridays with Sandy episode, takes him through the paces and provides handicapping odds.

If you would like to participate in a future Friday’s With Sandy webinar, you can contact Sandy and P&Q Founder John A Byrne here.
