Preparing For Grad Program Interviews by: Gies Business on March 18, 2020 | 357 Views March 18, 2020 Copy Link Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Email Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Share on Reddit Depending on the graduate program you are applying to, you may need to conduct an interview with one of our admissions personnel. For these programs, this is just one more source of information we use in determining an individualās potential for success in our program. Knowing what we would like to see from you may help you prepare. If the program you are applying to does include an interview, here are some of the things we are looking for in these experiences. First, weāll be evaluating communication skills. It is important in the business world ā and in graduate programs ā to be confident and articulate. We want to see how you think on your feet, and we want to get a sense of how you will be able to contribute to the team environment that is a key aspect of many of our programs. Second, we want to get a really strong sense of your career goals, and how you think our program will help you get there. We know you are career-focused, and we want to be sure that your goals and what you hope to get from our program are realistic for you and us, and that you have the motivation needed to be successful. Third, we want to get a sense of how you interact with others. Teamwork is prevalent in all our grad programs and the courses associated with them. We want to be sure that those people who join our program have the teamwork skills they need to succeed. We look beyond academic record in determining a candidateās ability to achieve success. These types of interviews can be an important part of the admission process. It is important to remember that these interviews are not intended to āweed outā applicants. Weāre not trying to trip you up. This is your opportunity to talk about how you are prepared for the program and share why you are a good fit ā maybe in ways that arenāt easy to show on paper. At the same time, we want to be sure that everyone we accept into the program is prepared for and capable of a successful outcome. We are here to help you. So, take a deep breath now and again. Pause when you need to think. This is your opportunity to shine. Show us what youāve got. Read more about Gies on ourĀ Partner PublisherĀ page.
