I’m an immigrant who left Africa because of several personal family losses. I studied accounting and was working towards becoming a tax attorney, but I realized that I wanted my work to have a more meaningful impact on the world. I accepted a job with a RE PE firm in IR where I have facilitated deals to build infrastructure in developing countries.

I was an integral part of launching a new fund at my firm which attracted app. $10B during the capital formation process. I worked directly with C-suite individuals to construct the theme of this fund which seniors on my team used to attract investors. I personally spearheaded the fund’s market research phase and presented my findings to the CSO.
Although I love the work that I do, I want to have a greater impact. While working at this firm, I’ve noticed that deal professionals (i.e., ex-bankers) identify and invest in portfolio companies. An MBA would allow me to pursue a career in banking and transition to deals, where I can use my experience to invest and improve infra in Africa.
