Hi Mr. MBB IVY Dreamer, I like that you’ve done well across diverse interests and pursuits! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission. I think you have a lot of strengths in your profile – solid academics (undergrad and assuming you’ll hit 760 for your GMAT), impressive commitment to the UN and other NGOs, strong work experience in Tech and passion for education. That said, the tricky part will be weaving all of these disparate achievements into a coherent narrative. There are some things that raise questions, eg. why CFA? Importantly, how do all these tie in with your future career goals. How will an MBA help you achieve these goals? Keep in mind that for starting MBB consultants, you may have to be a generalist for …
Keep in mind that for starting MBB consultants, you may have to be a generalist for a few years. Thus, as you put your apps together, you may want to explain why you’d like to take a “detour” to do MBB before pursuing your long-term goal of improving education for students. If you can articulate all these things compellingly, that would be the key to your application success. If you wish to discuss your profile in further detail, feel free to schedule a consultation with us. Wishing you the best in your MBA journey!
Mr. MBB IVY Dreamer – Thanks for posting your profile. Susan here from Stratus.
I’m impressed by the engagement you have demonstrated through the UN and other initiatives. You are really early in your career and seem to be throwing everything out there – CFA, private pilot, UN, education, child pyschology. I think you need to focus your efforts and you have time to do that so you can share a compelling narrative about the IMPACT that you would like to make through your future work.
Wishing you all the best on the GMAT and the application process.
