Hello Mr. Marketing Master. PhD admissions are not necessarily our forte but I am happy to give it a try. First off, congrats on finishing your MBA! I am sorry that you didn’t have the traditional final semester, these are indeed strange times. Hello Mr. Marketing Master. PhD admissions are not necessarily our forte but I am happy to give it a try. First off, congrats on finishing your MBA! I am sorry that you didn’t have the traditional final semester, these are indeed strange times. Don’t be dismayed that I have given you just 10% odds as I am missing some key information – with that data your odds may be much higher. You don’t list a GPA for your MBA which will be the set of grades that likely will be of most interest to PhD programs. I addition, have several big picture questions for you that any admissions committee would likely also have. Why not continue on as a PhD in your current MBA school? If they offer that degree, that is the route of many who decide they want to continue to a higher degree? Also, all the big and boutique management consulting firms hire post MBAs for strategy roles which you list as your post degree goal, you will have to construct a solid narrative as to why now the PhD ? These are questions and not intended to be challenges, I am sure you have your reasons but you will need to be able to clearly articulate them. Finally, as you would in an MBA application, you will want to be sure to highlight your professional success and impact as well as the leadership positions you have held, either formally or informally in the workforce and in your MBA program. Best of luck!
