Hi Mr. Navy Vet, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. Thank you for your service to our country. I am wondering if you were Navy full time and entrepreneur part time or the reverse. Hi Mr. Navy Vet, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. Thank you for your service to our country. I am wondering if you were Navy full time and entrepreneur part time or the reverse. Either way, would love to understand more about that experience. It sounds like you’ve made the switch to financial services as an advisor – so would love to know more about why IB and where you hope that will take you long term? What is driving your goals? I am not seeing this clearly through limited info provided here. And I think you need a compelling story to help overcome your stats. Your low GPA means that you need a strong GRE to show that you can handle the academic rigor of an MBA program. Not knowing your GRE breakdown, make sure that the quant side is fitting into their 80% range of 151-164. If there is a reason behind the low GPA, use the optional essay to explain the situation. You can also showcase your quant background by highlighting projects that you have worked on – not knowing the industry of your start up – maybe there is something here that you could leverage. With your current stats, I think your list is a bit ambitious – however you have chosen schools with a higher acceptance rating – so that is in your favor. Welcome the opportunity to talk further and learn more about your plans. Best of luck!
Thank you for your service. Even with a stem major at a tough school like the Naval Academy you have a low GPA. The average GPA for Georgetown McDonough is a 3.3. The GRE you have (assuming roughly equal quant and verbal) is 560. That is 130 points below the average. You should try to boost the GRE/GMAT and have an explanation for the lowish grades. Good luck.
