That said, I agree with Melisa that you’d want to explain your career goals more. Since you’re already in consulting, what makes you want to pivot into MBB? Importantly, what specific skills / knowledge are you seeking at Cornell that you aren’t necessarily learning on the job? Further, what are your long-term goals after MBB? If you can articulate this compellingly in your essays, as well as weave in your personal stories to share more of who you are, that would be the key to your application success. As a consultant coming in and a consultant leaving – you will need to tell a compelling story to go along with your strong relative stats to help your application stand out. What have you enjoyed about consulting to date that wants you to double down on consulting? And what do you hope to do with your consulting in the long term? Do you want to be a career consultant?
