That said, I agree with Melisa that you’d want to explain your career goals more. Since you’re already in consulting, what makes you want to pivot into MBB? Importantly, what specific skills / knowledge are you seeking at Cornell that you aren’t necessarily learning on the job? Further, what are your long-term goals after MBB? If you can articulate this compellingly in your essays, as well as weave in your personal stories to share more of who you are, that would be the key to your application success. Your GRE and GPA are stronger than the average at Cornell, Duke, Georgetown and Marshall. And all of these schools can help you transition to MBB. What is difficult to assess from the limited information is why MBB. As a consultant coming in and a consultant leaving – you will need to tell a compelling story to go along with your strong relative stats to help your application stand out. What have you enjoyed about consulting to date that wants you to double down on consulting? And what do you hope to do with your consulting in the long term? Do you want to be a career consultant? Or eventually leave consulting to achieve a larger goal. I love that you’ve highlighted wanting to grow as a leader. What do you need to grow as a leader? And how have you demonstrated your leadership to date? I love that you are teaching and editing – where have you had the opportunity to lead through these – or at work.
