I came from an arts background in both theater and film but I always had a dream of one day taking over my parents’ medical practice, despite the fact that my family preferred a son to take over. I have worked in medicine since high school and have been helping out at the office since then. I believe in the holistic health and development of kids.

Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. HBS admits only about 10% of applicants and I think you have a lower than average shot for a few reasons. The GPA is quite low although it is mitigated by a strong GMAT. (For the GPA, if there was a reason such as a medical issue, family issue, etc. I recommend mentioning in an optional essay.) I think HBS could question the work that you’ve been doing as too administrative. I could be misinterpreting but most EA roles are quite admin-oriented without many chances for leadership. If that’s not accurate, be sure on your resume to highlight the project-oriented, non-admin parts of your role. I think it’s great that you want to take over the family medical …

If that’s not accurate, be sure on your resume to highlight the project-oriented, non-admin parts of your role. I think it’s great that you want to take over the family medical practice and want to first get experience at a med tech company. What would you do at that company? In your application, you’ll want to be specific about the function and what skills you’ll gain that will set you up to take on that LT goal. Wishing you lots of luck!
