My big win was winning the grassroot level election. I was voted to be the elected official by 5000+ people. I was the youngest ever to be elected in my country’s history.
My post MBA goals are to work in the F&B industry in countries other than India. After working for a few years, I would like to return and start my own business venture.

Ms. Village Mayor, This is Debbie Choy, GSB alum and Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I think your profile is certainly unique! In my 8 years of admissions consulting, I don’t see many mayors applying to business school. That said, your GPA could pull down your chances a shade but the GRE helps. Your story is interesting though, so be sure to explain in your essays how everything fits in, eg. why the decision to go into business, let alone F&B after years in social development? How does an MBA fit into the picture? Also, because your experience in politics is non-traditional for business school applicants, do explain in your essays how you think you can add value to classroom discussions. How will your experiences and perspectives help your classmates gain a different perspective into business practices? Doing all this compellingly will be crucial to your GSB application. Ms. Village Mayor – Thanks for posting your profile. Susan Cera here from Stratus.
I suspect that your chances at Stanford are slightly below average due to your very low GPA though your GRE can make up for that.
Congrats on winning the election. I’m curious as to why, after 5 years in social development, you want to go into food and beverage. And, what sort of business venture do you envision. You will need to connect the dots from your past through the GSB to your future in your application. Take the time to see where you want to go and WHY. This is tremendously important to Stanford.
Wishing you all the best on your application journey.
