MIT Sloan: “Supply chain labor standards, the economics of privacy, front-line decision-making, and consumer attention: Meet the four new experts, including one newly minted dean, bringing their knowledge and skill sets to the MIT Sloan faculty.

Alessandro Acquisti, Professor of Information Technology

Comes from: Acquisti joins MIT Sloan from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, where he was a professor of information technology and public policy and founding faculty director of the CMU Digital Transformation and Innovation Center. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley and master’s degrees from UC Berkeley, the London School of Economics, and Trinity College Dublin.

Research: Acquisti’s research has spearheaded the application of economics and behavioral economics to the study of privacy and personal data and prompted the investigation of privacy and disclosure behavior in social media. He is a contributing author to “The Economics of Privacy” (2024), a book that examines the mechanics of privacy in the digital age. Other recent work by Acquisti explores the use of the protection motivation theory to encourage users to change breached passwords.”

IIM Kozhikode Campus

IIM Kozhikode MBA Cohort Hits Gender Parity

The Hindu: “The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) on Monday (June 23) formally inducted the new cohort for its flagship and specialised MBA programmes for 2025–2027.

The event was presided over by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIMK, with Aju Jacob, managing director, Synthite Industries, serving as the chief guest. A total of 586 students across three full-time postgraduate programmes were inducted as part of the ceremony, a press release said.

Like in the previous years, the IIMK has achieved an overall gender diversity of 51% women across its three full-time MBA programmes – the flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP in Finance (PGP-Fin), and PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM). This marks the fourth time in the last decade that IIM Kozhikode has admitted more women than men into its MBA cohort.”

London Business School Dean Sergei Guriev

London Business School Dean Named to Group of Thirty (G30)

Sergei Guriev brings a unique breadth of expertise, in areas ranging from corporate governance and contract theory to political economics, labor mobility, and the economics of development and transition. He is currently Dean of London Business School, Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France, and a Global Member of the Trilateral Commission. Guriev previously served as Professor of Economics and Provost at Sciences Po, Paris and Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He was earlier Rector of the New Economic School in Moscow from 2004-2013, and served on various Russian councils including the Commission on Open Government.

University of Iowa’s Tippie College Names New Associate Dean

Tippie College of Business: “Erin Nelson, associate professor of practice in management and entrepreneurship, has been named the new associate dean of graduate and professional programs in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. Her appointment is effective August 1, 2025.

“Erin brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Graduate and Professional Programs and shares our commitment to delivering a transformative student experience,” said Amy Kristof-Brown, dean of the Tippie College of Business. “Her ability to align strategy with structure, lead collaborative change, and connect academic programs with real-world impact will be instrumental in advancing the growth and innovation of our graduate programs.”

Worcester Polytechnic Institute Names Interim Business School Dean

Worcester Business Journal: “One month after the dean of Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s business school stepped down, the university has named Kwamie Dunbar as interim dean.

Dunbar assumed his role at The Business School on July 1, stepping in from his previous role as professor of finance at WPI. Having joined the university in 2022, Dunbar launched WPI’s undergraduate and graduate financial technology programs, according to a Wednesday press release.

Outside of his professorial responsibilities, Dunbar is an active member in WPI’s community and outside professional organizations. At WPI, he’s a member of several faculty search committees, contributes to graduate and undergraduate policy and curriculum, and serves as advisor for student projects with corporate sponsors. He’s published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and presented at just as many financial technology and economic conferences.”
