Hello Mr. Deferred MBA Candidate, this is Michael from mbaMission. You have a great story – impressive that you founded such a successful company!
The MBA application is process, and they will look at your stats, work experience, and extracurricular involvement. In terms of your stats, it is clear you have the quantitative ability to succeed in the classroom, considering your above average GMAT of 760, as well as because of your 4.0 GPA in a quantitative degree. The MBA application is process, and they will look at your stats, work experience, and extracurricular involvement. In terms of your stats, it is clear you have the quantitative ability to succeed in the classroom, considering your above average GMAT of 760, as well as because of your 4.0 GPA in a quantitative degree. Even more so, though, it is your work experience that can really help you stand out. Not many applicants have founded such a successful company, so definitely emphasize that in your essays. I think your career goals are realistic too, based on your background and interests, although because becoming an entrepreneur right after school can be risky, I like that you will target consulting as a short term goal, to help you gain the necessary experience to succeed in your start-up. This will also be deemed less risky by the schools. Recent entrepreneurial clients have had success outlining this career path in their essays. And as for your extracurriculars, your leadership and impact with the API organization will also be viewed positively.
Overall, I think you have a great profile, just keep in mind that deferred programs are incredibly competitive, and many applicants will have stats similar to yours. This is why your essays (and your story in general) are so crucial. I see your odds at Stanford GSB to be about 20%, which is even better than the school’s average acceptance rate of less than 10%. Good luck!
