Not to mention achieving all this as a first gen American and college grad. As for your GRE, to be competitive at Columbia, ideally, you want a GRE of 163+ in each subscore. My estimate of your odds are based on an assumption that you will hit this threshold but if this doesn’t happen, it will impact your chances at Columbia. Hey Mr. Real Estate Private Equity Thanks for posting. Krista from mbaMission here. LOVE that GPA. B-schools will too, especially CBS who seems to be getting more and more stats conscious. If CBS is your dream, I encourage you to apply Early Decision. And network, network, network before you apply! B-schools want to know you are interested in them and they will be very eager to lock down that 3.8. For the GRE, it seems you have a bit of work to do there. If you can’t break 315, perhaps try applying to CBS with the EA. With your profile, they may be eager to accept you and the EA gives them the excuse to do it. (The 315 GRE may make things hard.) I encourage you to invest in the test — hire a tutor to help you get that score up. If you are wiling to spend $225k on your education, a few sessions with a private tutor is a small price to pay to get the score you need. Make sure CBS knows the 1st generation American story! And use your Optional Essay to explain the journey from community college. I think they will appreciate the scrappiness there. All the best for your apps, Krista
