MBA Programs With the Most International Students

Looking for a strong international flavor in a business school? Hoping to build an overseas network for when you launch your dream venture? Well, you don’t necessarily have to enroll in IMD or INSEAD. In fact, you can stay right in the United States.

This week, U.S. News & World Report shared its listing of the top American business schools for international students. On average, these students comprise nearly a third of MBA students in American institutions. Among the 10 schools with the highest populations of international students, they account for 63% of the student body.

The University of California-Riverside’s Anderson Graduate School of Management attracts the highest percentage of international students, with 78% of students coming from overseas (a 4% increase over the previous year). Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management finished second at 68% (a 12%t increase over the previous years).

Babson College’s Olin Graduate School of Business, which offers one of the top entrepreneurship programs, has the highest number of international students in the top 10, with 261 out of 426 students being foreign born. Thunderbird, a traditional powerhouse in global business education, draws 57.8% of its students from oversees (204 out of 353 students total).

Ranked #40, Purdue’s Krannert School of Management is the highest-ranked school on the list, with 57.8% of its MBAs hailing from other nations.

This data comes on the heels of a recent GMAC report, which shows American-based businesses pulling back from hiring overseas MBAs due to issues with VISAs.
