Credentials: Dr. Raghunathan (aka Dr. Happy-Smarts) is a Professor of Marketing at the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business. His work focuses on consumer behavior, particularly in how behavioral psychology, decision theory, and marketing practices shape consumption. Aside from his academic research being featured in outlets ranging from the Journal of Marketing to Information Systems Research, Dr. Raghunathan also writes a blog on happiness, creativity, and leadership for Psychology Today. And his book on happiness is tentatively scheduled to be published in 2015. He is currently a visiting Professor Marketing at the Indian School of Business.

Description: “What is the meaning of life?” Ever ask that question? Chances are, you’re not looking to unlock the universe’s secrets. Instead, you’re seeking a connection, to discover your place and find solace…hope…happiness. In this course, Dr. Raghunathan will take a scientifically-validated approach to identify what provides a fulfilling life. Drawing from the latest findings in psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral decision theory, he will outline the “7 Deadly Happiness Sins” (including chasing superiority, avoiding connection, mistrust, and controlling others) along with sharing the “7 Habits of the Highly Happy.” As part of the course, Dr. Raghunathan will also include lectures from special guests like Marshall Goldsmith and Srikumar Rao.
