MBA Handicapping: Applying For 2+2 From Abroad

A student in the master’s in management program at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, Walther is spending is summer in London as an intern at a global merchant bank. He also is in a McKinsey & Co. program called “Keep In Touch” that mentors young professionals to funnel them into the consulting firm’s internship and job pool.

With a 680 GMAT (which he will retake) and a 4.0 in quantitative economics from an Italian university in Venice, Walther plans to apply to Harvard Business School’s 2+2 deferred admissions program. Even at the young age of 23, he would a wealth of experience to the game through a series of internships with KPMG Advisory, a boutique innovation consulting outfit run by a professor, and the world’s largest cooperative financial institution.

Walther has some impressive extras as well. He’s on the core strategy team of a nonprofit called Mentors2u that supports teenagers on their journey to university and is the founder of a startup in Italy that helps students pursue careers in investment banking and consulting.
