From the very beginning during our introductory call, Jessica immediately stood out against the 9 other consultants I spoke with. Heidi’s feedback was instrumental in “tightening up” each portion of my application. She is most efficient with her time and ultra-responsive. In terms of her review style, Heidi provided both general feedback and detailed comments/suggestions on how I could improve sections of my resume/essays. She always provides insights on what she likes in addition to suggested improvements. For improvement areas, she offers probing questions or suggestions for how to make the section stronger. This style really helped me understand where she was coming from and what the admissions committee was looking for. It also created fewer iterations in getting to my final product. I am a Latin American reapplicant with a background in Law, and last year I was admitted to other schools, but not Harvard, my dream school. I started the MBA consulting session with Jessica and till then she had already reviewed my resume and the story I provided. I started by asking a query and she gave me a very satisfactory response. She continued by looking at my resume which was too generalized and she helped by showing how I could present the resume in a meaningful way. She asked me a few questions and found out some great points in my life that even I hadn’t thought of and that could make a positive impact in my application. I was referred to Gavriella by a friend that had recently been accepted to Cornell’s full-time MBA program. I began my journey by scheduling a consultation, during which I laid out my goal of attending Columbia Business School. She began by telling me that given some of my stats, it truly was a long shot. Gavriella will not sugarcoat your situation, but hearing her honest assessment was exactly what I needed and exactly what you will need throughout the process.

The application process can be quite grueling – Gavriella helped me through every step, from crafting my essays to perfecting and anticipating every possible interview question. Her suggestions and preparation tips were perfectly catered to my background and to my target program. If you are anything like me and you tend to be a bit self-critical, Gavriella will not only help you crush your applications, but she will also remind you that you DO have a story to tell. If you feel like you don’t, it’s because you haven’t learned how to tell it.

People going through the process of applying to school, be it undergrad or graduate, often ask me if hiring a consultant is worth it, and that’s a tricky one. I would imagine that not all admission consultants are equal in terms of the value they provide, but working with Gavriella was worth every penny and then some. Debbie is a very experienced and supportive consultant. She took the time to truly get to know me and my stories instead of following templates. She has a very in-depth understanding of the MBA application process and different schools’ unique styles. Every meeting with her was very efficient and insightful, and she was also very timely with email responses. At the same time, preparing for application can be extremely intense and stressful; Debbie’s high energy and care also made things much easier. I did not hire Devi as my main consultant, but I did do her free consultation. I am still recommending her because of the quality of that consultation and because I heavily relied on the resources she has online for preparing for the HBS interview. As an ORM software engineer with a solid background, there are two extremes for consultants. On one end, there’s the consultant that will tell you that you’ll get in everywhere as long as you sign with them. The other will try to make you aim lower so they can have an easy win. Devi was neither. She was realistically encouraging and gave me actionable feedback on things I could work on before the admissions process. Her free HBS interview prep material is essential viewing for anyone invited to interview by HBS, and I’m confident that working with her on the interview 1:1 would be valuable for those that need a bit of coaching. She’s been an HBS interviewer, so she knows what they evaluate. I attribute a large part of my successful HBS interview to her prep materials.

I am extremely grateful to have had Debbie as a coach throughout the application process. I worked with Debbie for multiple months from strategizing when to apply to my top choice programs, to prepping for the GMAT and writing my application, and also working through the interview process. I was solely focused on applying to European schools and originally went with Jen as she had attended Cambridge herself. However, throughout the 3-4 months that I spent working with Jen, she was an absolutely invaluable resource in helping me gain admission. I only applied to LBS and IESE for Round 1 and got admitted to both. I knew LBS would be a reach for me, but Jen really took the time to get to know me, my story, and my motivations for wanting to attend, and was a constant cheerleader throughout the process. Having only lived in one US state, moving abroad for business school was a huge life decision and having Jen in my corner made that decision that much easier.

Working with her made me much more confident in my unique story and confirmed my motivations for applying, and I was in turn able to convey this confidence throughout my essays, interviews, and chats with students/alumni. Jen also has a background in test prep and was able to provide some helpful tips as I studied for the GRE. Jen was also a great resource for my recommenders as she provided resources to help them write a strong recommendation and read through drafts to make sure that piece of my application was strong.

Lastly, at the beginning of our relationship, I was given a 15-20 page document to fill out. This is time-consuming but I highly recommend taking the time to fill this out to the best of your ability; I constantly found myself looking back on this as I moved through the application process and prepared for interviews. It also gives Jen a good base to know your background and what pieces of your story she can highlight.

An MBA consultant is a pricey investment but for me, it was absolutely worth it. I honestly don’t know whether or not I would have gotten in without her, but I know I personally wanted someone to guide me through the application process and I wanted to give myself the best possible shot at these schools. If I had to go back I would absolutely choose to work with Jen again.

I worked with Jen on my MBA application for INSEAD and Cambridge and she was absolutely fantastic. Starting with our joint brainstorming for the essays, where she helped me tremendously in selecting the episodes from my life that could have relevance to the applications, and then sorting them out on the essay topics so that they would paint a comprehensive picture of my strengths. If you receive an interview for HBS, the best thing that you can do is immediately book a mock interview with Devi. Devi not only improved my interview ability with HBS but my interview skills in general. Our mock interview process felt exactly like the real thing and Devi put a ton of time reviewing my application ahead of our mock interviews. I was super well-prepared for the real interview – this was because Devi knows exactly how to prep you through her mock interviews. She asks very detailed questions that reflects what you should expect for the HBS interview and how to think through it.

More than that, Devi’s feedback sessions after the mock interviews were incredibly helpful. She will give you the feedback that you need to hear to really improve. She is truly amazing as a coach and as a person. I could not have been accepted into HBS without Devi’s mock interview prep.

I am an Indian applicant from one of the leading tech institutes in the country, with a background in technology and computer science. I initially found the applications for HBS and Stanford GSB very daunting, and I spoke to my mentor, an HBS alumnus, about this. She taught me how to translate my skills and goals so they could be universally understandable – not just to someone in my sector. I had trouble expressing how it applied in a business context, and she adeptly interviewed me and highlighted how my experience could be better understood. She kept me on track and made sure my application had a consistent narrative from start to finish. The mbaMission structure was helpful and allowed me to focus on writing the application materials instead of scheduling and coordination. Debbie went out of her way to fine-tune her suggestions for the individual programs to which I was applying, enabling me to hyper-target my essays to each school. For example, NYU Stern asks applicants to put together a picture essay as a means of better showcasing creative thinking and emotional intelligence. Debbie and I went through many pictures and selected those that we felt most represented the overlap between my authentic self and NYU’s values.

I am earning an MBA at Stern largely thanks to Debbie.

I had a great experience working with Jen. She is friendly, supportive, and easy to work with. I’m confident that without her help I wouldn’t have been able to submit a solid application. Her tips on the interview process made all the difference in me being able to showcase my true personality and my strengths.

Before Kate, I had hired 3 very famous consultants from India, which cost me thousands of dollars. I worked directly with the top consultants from those companies. But my work experience was on the lower side because I was applying young. My previous consultants knew this and decided by themselves that I didn’t have a shot at the T20 schools. So they did not even bother to give their best effort despite paying them so much. They assumed I would not get into a T20 school, so they gave their minimal time and effort. After the expected rejects from round 1 applications, I saw reviews of Kate Richardson on Poets&Quants and decided to try one last consultant.

To my surprise, Kate worked with me with complete dedication despite my profile. She was very organized, and her attention to detail helped me greatly. She went above and beyond when it came to taking the time out to help me perfect my essays.

And in the end, the essays she helped me with finally got me into a T20 school with a $70,000 scholarship!

Katy was the only advisor I used when applying to HBS 2+2, and she’s all I needed. While I was still deciding whether to apply to any programs (ie, before I even became her client), she stayed in touch – answered any questions I had about the GMAT, whether my score was good enough, and helped me decide which school(s) to apply to for deferred admissions, etc. As an HBS alumna and former GSB admissions officer, she provides key perspectives and critical info that I couldn’t have found otherwise (and I scoured all the forums for all available info) and even communicates with recommenders (if they want) to coach them on how to write a strong letter. Most of all, we did a deep dive on my key life decisions and she was able to construct a highly insightful narrative for my application – I was really impressed with how well she understood me throughout this brainstorming session; this was key to the story I shared in my essay.

Ultimately, when I didn’t get in, Katy again provided invaluable advice about how to set myself up for success over the next few years before I reapply. We talked for an hour about what strong EC profiles might look like, if/when/how I should think about moving between jobs, and when I should expect to apply again for the best chance. Though I didn’t get in, I learned a lot about the process thanks to Katy, and I believe this will help a LOT as I move forward and reapply in a few years.

Overall, Katy definitely cultivates relationships and cares about the person behind the application. She was able to accommodate me anytime I asked to meet, had follow-up questions, etc. – even on short turnaround – and helped me manage expectations and relax when I needed it. This is definitely a very applicant-driven process, and you will need to proactively reach out with any questions you have and create your own schedule, but Katy is an invaluable resource throughout the process, as long as you’re able to do that.
